Xbox Live With Chameleon?

what you should do...is flash the Matrix with a color bios...so say you install an Evox blue bios on it...when your xbox starts up...and the "xbox" logo comes up it'll be blue so you know that the modchip is ON...but if it is off it will just boot up in green...

Yea I did that for the matrix, I understand that part. But I mean for the chameleon, which I am installing for my friend. How do I do the same thing so the xbox could play on xbox live? How do I know if the chameleon is disabled?

Thanks for the help,
Alex

Listen...this is very easy

On one of the flash banks..but the normal MS bios on it...

Then on another Flash Bank put a Blue EvoX bios...

Now memorize the settings for the DIP switches...and just in case...you will know which bios it is booting...if the green xbox logo comes up you are a GO for live...if the Blue Boots up...You better turn your xbox off and switch the DIP switch so it boots the original

BTW: If you need help on flashing banks and such check the tutorials on XS and http://www.xodus-chip.com/

Ok I installed the mod chip with the Power and Eject wires and set it to mode 4. The first bank (power button) is programmed with a Blue Evox, and the other bank(hold power and eject for 3 seconds) is programmed with the Cromwell Linux Bios which I did not touch. Then if I hold just the Eject button for 3 seconds, it seems like the original bios loads. So when this original bios loads, is it safe to play on Xbox Live? Also I can switch off the modchip from the Evox dashboard, will that also be safe to play on Xbox Live?

Thanks for the help,
Alex

apparently but best to do a full hardware disable just to be sure that the mod is fully disabled

Oh ok, I understand, thanks! So basically when the green "X" boots, it loads the original bios? And the Evox bios is Blue, so pretty easy to differentiate.

Thanks guys,
Alex

Okay.... i got all that to work with the original harddrive in the xbox.... but when I had a bigger harddrive installed, with the newest EvoX... I have it set to mode 4, where you can hold down the eject button to disable the chameleon, and I have tried this... and it boots just fine normally (plays copies, plays games from harddrive) but when i hold the eject button down to disable the modchip.. i get the red/green flash and xbox needs service screen... any suggestions?

robinsj:

Did you remember to back up the files from your ORIGINAL 8/10GB XBOX hard drive and then transfer all the files to your new, larger HD?  When you first power on your XBOX, the BIOS writes a file that contains specific info about your particular XBOX, if you do NOT transfer those files (they're in the C: directory), your XBOX will NOT boot to the normal M$ Dashboard from your new Hard Drive.

What you should do is plug your original HD back into the XBOX, FTP ALL the files from C: to your PC, then plug in the new HD, and FTP the files you copied to that new drive.

In my experience, this is not true.  You don't necessarily need to have your original dash files on the HDD.  But you definitely do need to have a complete set of dashboard files on the C: drive (can be from any Xbox).  Make sure you have a complete set of dashboard files on C:.

After confirming that you have a complete set of dashboard files, make sure that the MS Dashboard is called xboxdash.xbe, not msxboxdash.xbe (EvoX should be evoxdash.xbe).

Lastly, make sure you lock your new HDD (use Config Magic).

Just like the others said it, you have to copy original "C" drive files with the hard drive information and then lock the hard drive. Not a big problem.
