Ground Solder For 1.2 Matrix Install...
« on: June 26, 2003, 09:55:00 PM »

Firstly, you have either misunderstood the guy on the phone, or he gave you false information.  You don't need to ground the pogo pin on the MatriX, you need to ground the 'G spot' or what is usually called the D0 point.  So basically, remove the D0 pogopin (or tape it so it doesn't make contact), then find the D0 point on your motherboard (see pics below), and solder a wire from there to the top of the D0 pogopin on your MatriX.  This will allow your MatriX to function exactly the way it should.  Alternately, you can do what the guy suggested and solder a wire from the Do point on the motherboard, to any ground point (such as the ring of metal around each screw hole).  However, doing this will not allow your MatriX to be disabled for Xbox Live.

The v1.2 D0 points are shown in the Xecuter installation guides, but I'll repost the pictures for you:

I have a v1.2 xbox, and I'm trying to install a matrix modchip, i've followed the instructions above but I'm having no luck.  What color should the matrix led flash if it is aligned correctly and my d0 is grounded properly.  Will it turn green like a version 1.0 xbox or flash green briefly then flash red like a v1.1 xbox?

It should flash green for half a second and then flash red.  It's hard to spot at first, but if you see any green whatsoever at bootup in mode 1, it should be aligned.
