Soldering Matrix
« on: June 24, 2003, 08:08:00 AM »

I've been reading about people soldering the Matrix chip onto the Xbox, but whenever I do a search, I can't find any info on  how to do it. Can somebody tell me how to do it? And is it alot of work?

..although i dunno why people want to do this, IMO you'd be better off selling it and buying a cheapmod or something.

The only thing that separates the MatriX from many other cheapmods is the fact that it is a solderless solution.  When you solder it in, you basically have a $60 cheapmod.  Do you really want to do that?  Sell it and by a cheapmod, or better yet, an X2.

My parents always taught me to make the best use of the things I have.  If you sell your matrix you'll lose most of its value and will then have to shell out a load more on another chip.  Why not just solder it in as you said and make use of what you have.  You're still getting your 60 bucks worth, except you had to put a little effort in.  It took me 15 mins to solder mine in.

i dont really care, i dont want to sell a perfectly good matrix and waste my time, it worked solderless for a while and gave me my money's worth (when i didnt know how to solder) and now im still getting my money's worth by soldering it in because my screw was going thru the case and i didnt like it.
