I've installed several MatriXes in v1.1 Xboxes, and I've never had to solder the D0 point. Here's a short-list of what I do:
1. Solder the LPC points and make sure each point has a nice clean, flat solder pad when you're done
2. Flash the Matrix with a noani colored BIOS
3. I don't bother switching the chip to mode 1, switch it to Mode 2, 3, or 4
4. Screw the chip lightly into place. Make it loose enough for you to easily move the chip around
5. Align the chip using the 3 alignment holes
6. Hold the chip in place and power on the Xbox.
- If you see the X straight away, you know you've got it right (this is why I always flash with a blue noani BIOS)
- If you get the flubber animation, your D0 pin is not making contact. Turn the Xbox off and go back to step 5
- If your Xbox FRAGS, your D0 point is on, but your LPC pins are not all making contact. Turn the Xbox off and go back to step 5
7. Turn the Xbox off and tighten the screw a little. Turn on the Xbox to make sure it's still aligned. If not, go back to step 5.
8. Turn the Xbox off and tighten the screw fully (not too hard or you'll strip the threads). Turn the Xbox on to make sure it's still aligned. If not, loosen the screw just a fraction, and go back to step 5
Anybody else have any tips?
