i got a pm from xodus

they told me that they have a chameleon with their new cpld code on it
and it works on v1.3 (and all older versions of the xbox)

good thing it was solved fast enough by both teams

now M$ can start blaiming their lameass security specialists

dont ask me when where etc... i was just given this info
they will be probably posting more info on their home page soon ( www.xodus-chip.com )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the CPLD can be reprogrammed on all current Chameleon mods, correct? So no new mod revision will be needed in this case?

and why would they do that

v1.3 boxes arent that spreaded yet... there like a very small amount of them on the market...

I figured that CPLD would really be needed some day. now they can just preprogram the chameleon with the latest cpld code and not have to worry about different mod revisions. definitely an awesome job on the part of the xodus team. now if only they would update their site

Do you know what this means? It means there may be some people out there that may experience frustration if they purchased an Xbox and are waiting for EB2K to send their Chameleon. I was reassuring them that they have options, apparently.

I really don't think xodus will release the cpld code to the general public. This would make it far too easy for people to clone the hardware.

I would imagine it will be a case of sending back for a replacement.

Team Xodus will NEVER release any .jed file to upgrade the Chameleon cpld.
The fact is that they were late with the Chameleon release, so to do it quicker they didn't throw away the JTAG port, that is competely useless to the end user, just like Ubergeek said before.
They're advertising the JTAG port as an "upgrade possibility", but the truth is really different, it's just another misleading info they much like (IMHO).

OK, so I just got my Xbox yesterday and it's a v1.3. My Matrix with programmer came today.

Should I order a Chameleon now or wait? Or should I try to order an X-B.I.T? I want to have this running by the end of this weekend if at all possible!

Return it and find an older version cause there's no way you can get a chameleon by this weekend considering how slow easybuy200 is. XBIT is not even out yet so good luck buying a chip that works with 1.3.

I agree - return it and try and find an older one.

GameSpot in the US sells refurbs that I've had real luck with - lots of Sammys and you save 30 bucks.
