Matrix And Chameleon Programmer
« on: June 13, 2003, 09:10:00 AM »

Just got my matrix programmer and chameleon in the mail. have everything setup and I can't plug the damn thing into my LPT port the programmer comes with two hex screws (bacwards I assume) to tighten it into the LPT port (I guess). Well first the screws will not fit behind the little black plastic piece to screw int from the oppposite side. Second if I leave the screws off the chameleon gives off a blue light but, only when I just barely touch it to the LPT port then once I push in all the way or barely for that matter they go off. What do I do?
Ok and my second question is once I have it setup properly is Evox D6 the file I want to use to flash the second bank or Evox 4972. I plan on using the Evolutionx dash so I am not sure which I need to use. Thanks in advance.

If you read my post above you would see I have tried it with the screws off. It still does not work. When I plug it in there are no lights, and the xodux programming software does not recognize it, says device not found. Please help I need to get this thing flashed.

Programmer still not working when it accidentally hits the sides of lpt port blue light flashes on chameleon(its in mode 4)but, when plugged in no red light. I also just went to my dads house he has an intel mobo( I have asus and Amd chip) still did not work. I have tried two different battery types and hard pressure to battery, programmer, and chip to see if any loose connects-No Good. What is wrong with this damn thing.

But, I need the linux bios for some work I am doing, that is why I need to get this thing flashed into the second bios holder thing. I want linux in 1, evox 4972 in 2nd then the third 512k to be blank. That way I can flash later with larger 512k bios my friend is working on and I can use the linux cromwell bios still. Oh yeah and I now have extra 45 mins just talked to guy and he is staying late to finish another project.

Ok, Here you go:-

1) Have you got a battery in the programmer?
2) Have you changed the LPC settings 278,278,3FF etc?
3) Have you connected the Chameleon to the programmer using the correct connection on the Chameleon?
4) Use the Chameleon flashing software from Xodus
5) Make sure there is now hardware conflicts for the LPC port?
6) What op system are you using?

All the best
