Got the Matrix in last night. Xbox is a 1.0 (by version number and presence of fan on GPU). Test mode was still only showing a brief flash of green before fading to red (something I had heard of on 1.1 'Boxes). We said screw it, switched the DIP switches to Always On mode, and closed it up anyway. It worked - Red logo instead of green, error indicative of no dashboard loaded. But today it crapped out as we were networking to my PC, started booting green again. We have been attempting to realign it for a few hours now, with the best success being a red logo screen (no text beneath the XBOX) followed by an Error 16 screen that is missing half of the image (diagonally, from upper left to lower right).
Is this still an alignment issue? or does the chip need to be reflashed? it's currently running 256k[1].Evx2.5.colormod.err.noani.evox.bin
all the cables are seated correctly, the Matrix's dip switches are in Always On mode
any suggestions for a noob? I expect a great deal of people to tell me to solder it. We're not quite that desparate yet. Although it's starting to look better and better...
