Hiya guys. I'm going to get a chameleon mod chip because Of it's great features. I read that it ships with a customized cromwell Bios. I also heard that the Blue light only works with this bios. Is that true. I'm not bothered about that atm anyway. I have a PAL version 1.1 Xbox and I was thinking of doing this. Leave the customised cromwell bios on the mod chip so I can boot genatoox Linux of the hard drive (Is this poss, like link it to hard drive?). Then use the A15 feature to flash the one meg TSOP with the latest evolution x bios and then after all that switch to (what best mode for this?) so that I can use E+P to switch between the cromwell Bios (on the mod chip) and the evolution x bios on the TSOP. I guess I would need a 1 meg mirror evolution bios for this as well. Also is there anyway to backup the TSOP bios. Thanks for feedback. I know I can do this in software mode but would prefer (when I cold boot) to use the E + P features.

Mark.

Ok. From some research, correct me if I'm wrong.

I would have to chose a mode and flash the chameleon chip withe the evolution x bios for tempory. Then I would load evox and add all the functions in so I can flash the TSOP via the dash withe the download cromwell bios of xbox linux. After thats done I would use

"Front panel buttons support
-It has built-in and used with mode 4 you can boot up with 3 combinations (Power, Eject and Both together) Each combination is a different selection
Q: What is this?
A: Its another way to select how you want to boot your Xbox,

If you want to use the feature, you have to Hook up the E and P points on the chip to your Xbox and you will be able to boot from 2 different banks and also to boot with the chip disabled.
In Mode 4:

When holing POWER you boot the first 256k bank
When Holding EJECT you boot with the TSOP (chip 100% disabled) to play LIVE
When Holding both POWER and EJECT together you will boot the 2nd 256k with flash protection.
"
mod four to select back to a evoloution x bios on the chameleon mod chip. Then I some how flash the chameleon mod chip wit the cromwell bios. How I do this.

Quiet confusing, just clear it up for me plz.

Also

The Chameleon offers a point (A15) which is soldered to the chip and Xbox and is solftware controlled (no manual interception of wires) and can be done in a few seconds,
(RE# and WE# points must be enabled on the XBOX)

WTF

Hiya. I just want to flash the TSOP with an exectuor bios (I meant that in earlier post) and run the default cromwell bios on the chameleon mod chip. Simple ??? Just clear it up for me, I don't think I can do it like that looking at research. Explain how I do it!!!

I would strongly recommend not flashing your TSOP, just flash one or two of the banks on the chameleon with and xecuter bios and leave the cromwell on the others. It's best to leave your TSOP intact in case anything should go wrong, or you want to use Xbox Live.

TSOP flashing is mostly for people who are too cheap to buy a decent modchip.

THanks for the information. But I will dowbt I will EVER play Live because broadband is not in our area/little village at all. And anyway. I want to do this, Flash TSOP with executor bios and leave the chameleon mod chip as it is because it's what I have planned to do. I just want to know the procedure in order to do it!

So TSOP = Exectuor bios

Chameleon = Cromwell Bios

How?? Do I leave the cromwell bios intact and flash the TSOP.

In order to flash your TSOP, you will either need to re-flash at least one bank or your chameleon or you will need another mod chip (matrix or chameleon) that has an xecuter BIOS. You have to ground point A15 and you can then flash your TSOP through Evox. It would be easiest to do with a chemeleon for its ability to do this through software.

If you absolutely must re-flash your TSOP then you would probably have to flash an xecuter bios on yor chameleon, then flash the TSOP, and then flash cromwell back onto the chameleon.

Your plan completely defeats the purpose of having a mod chip with multiple banks. Trust me, it's most beneficial to you that you leave your TSOP intact and you re-flash one or two of your chameleon banks with Xecuter. You don't need cromwell to boot linux anyway, it will still work on top of an xecuter bios.

Backing up the BIOS from the TSOP is a fairly difficult thing to do. You could probably download a backed up one from "the usual places". Just make sure you get the kernel version number right.

As for A15, there is a place on your chameleon to solder a wire between A15 and the mod chip, it's next to the solder pad for D0. Solder a wire between them and then you can flash away through evox.

Note you will also need to add the special chameleon codes to your exov.ini file to get the chameleon's special flashing options.
