Chameleon Chip Problems

v1.1 here and I am in the exact same boat as you now (and also can't hot swap). I think many of us are.

Doesn't it sound like it's trying to access the DVD?  Would it be worth trying to have a bios disc in there or is that useless without Cromwell booting up first to flash it?

Sounds like there's no way to flash these damn chips if the banks are empty...grrrrr

It's commonly referred to as FRAG, Flashing Red And Green.  It can be caused by several problems, but the most common one is that your Xbox is unable to load a BIOS.

To do a hot swap flash, you don't need to hot swap with another Chameleon, you can hot swap with any LPC mod.

I had the same trouble with mine flashing red/green after 3rd boot and all my joints tested ok and it would boot normally with d0 disconnected. when I removed it and inspected it with a magnifying glass the bios chip was bridged with solder in two places. I used some soldermop and removed the bridges and it worked straight away, just thought it might be the same problem.

Interesting...where exactly on the Cham (not to be confused with sham) are you talking about?  The legs of one of the chips on the board?  It would be great if it was just, er, shoddy construction...

Good to know that I'm not alone on this one.
I inspected the Chameleon for any solder bridges or other physical defects and I found none.
It WOULD BE NICE if Xodus were to also inform the buying public that they have added a bridge resistor by the DIP switches. Drove me nuts not knowing if it was suppose to be there or not. According to all diagrams on the Xodus and this forum, the resistor is not suppose to be there. I went so far as to remove that resistor to test the install.
So far still no luck. I'm going to try and contact Xodus to see if I can get some answers.
I'll post if I get any.
Good luck Everyone, all the efforts are appreciated.

I'm in the same boat: v1.0 XBox and I have three (!) Chameleons that all behave the same. At one point, one of the Chameleons did light the LED (briefly, it flashed green then blue, the would go out...it did this at every boot).

ARGH!

Yes, the Chameleon does use the same programmer; However it does not work. Many users have tried it on the forum and so far no one has got it to work. The only soloution that anyone has gotten to work for a non-flashed Chameleon is to do the hot-swap.
I would send the Chameleon over to get it programmed for a fee but that would defeat the purpose for an inexpensive mod (shipping, insurance and your cost). Also the point is to get Xodus to fix the issue if there is one; Not just ignore the questionable QA.
However I appreciate your offer and will keep it in mind if things do get desperate.
No word from Xodus so far.
