What Are The Chances Of The Matrix Mod Killing...

it's pretty easy, and to tell you the truth, i don't know how people mess up there xbox with a no solder chip.  i think 99% of people get the matrix to work and only 1% screw something up.   beerchug.gif

kkattfish, I thinks it WAY less than that, that mess up their XBox. I'm thinking like maybe .1% mess some thing up.

I think the only way to really do it is to ready screw up and shot some thing out on the motherboard.

The only way you can really blow the board with a Matrix is to move it too much while the box is on. Possibly scratching the traces or shorting something out.  Only move it a very, very small amount while the box is powered on.

yeh its like 0.1% or less off ppl who broke their xbox. I have the matrix now, i read hardly any tutorials, just printed out the pdf instructions of installation, and it took about 10 mins, very easy. The only bad thing about it is if u take it to your computer regularly to ftp files then u will probably have to realign it, what i'd do is just make 1 day where u download all the files u think u will ever need, and ftp them, then u won't have to constantly move it around.

20% of the people including me have problems that end up with a killed xbox.
1% is a stupid number , jeez. Look at all the problems people have on this board

my matrix mod will be here by the end of the week but now i'm having second thoughts about putting the thing in... so many people are posting threads about their xbox not working after putting the matrix in.
i got my xbox a few months after its release so i have a v1.0... are the chances very good the matrix will destroy my xbox?
the matrix install guide is a little disorienting to me ( at least some of the pics are) is there a better guide with pics out there... really wish there was a full install video from start to finish instead of those quick low quality vids of pixilated fingers wiggling a chip around and a green light flashing.

let me tell you this

If your xbox starts hanging during bootup than it's almost 100% your motherboard will die.
NEVER EVER do anything to your xbox with power plugged in.
Always take out the cable and wait a minute or 2 than start working. And be very carefull while moving the matrix chip

Its pretty hard to mess up the install.  Ido suggest looking at the d0 spot and seeing if there is thin insulation coating over it.  I have a 1.0 box and it took a lot of time for my first line up.  Eventualy i scratched through the coating and made a good connection.  Not that i encourage working on a plugged in electrical device but i did have my box plugged in and on to test the chip.

i kinda disagree with you social-zero.
it's usually a good idea to work with the xbox/computer plugged in. that way the thing is CONSTANTLY grounded and you don't have to worry about static charge.

What i'm saying is that of course all you are going to see is complaints. That doesn't mean that the chips suck.. just that most people won't say "ok im not having any probs" - people only post when something is wrong.

yes, that setup should work.  as long as your xbox is connected to your hub, and your pc is connected to your hub it should work.

you actually don't need a ftp server running, you just need and ftp program like flashfxp to ftp into your xbox.   beerchug.gif

And if there's no ftp server running, just what exactly do you expect the ftp client to connect to?

This is false information. The Xbox mainboard is on a floating ground so it technically is not properly grounded. Even if it is this does not mean you yourself is grounded. You must remember that electricity takes the least path of resistance meaning that if you contain a positive charge and handle a component that is grounded you may send electricity through it and possibly kill it. Make sure you are grounded as well as the part you are working with so that they are both neutral. As for the Matrix chip killing Xboxes goes I have seen many Xboxes with this problem. Not all are caused by user error. Some are caused by the chip itself and we are still investigating the cause. The damage is almost always resulting in a bad MCPX chip.
