Flash Chameleon
« on: May 24, 2003, 05:25:00 PM »

First I'd like to say that I am really disappointed with myself for having to ask the question but this is such a new subject I have nowhere to look other than the guide found here. I burned my disc in Nero with LINUXBIO.BIN on it. That is all I burned on it. I waited for cromwell to fully boot. I put the disc in and it says loading linuxboot.cfg from cd-rom. It never flashes the chameleon. What am I doing wrong?

Also I try to flash my chameleon with my matrix programmer and it will not detect the chip. I pull the chameleon off and put a matrix on and it detects the hell out of it. What am I doing wrong?

Oh by the way I'm using a samsung drive and it's read this media before.

Edit: I've now tried burning this as an image and just as an item on the cd on both cdr and cdrw. Why in God's name won't this bios load this file?

"BUMP"

Has any one successfully flash a Chameleon using the Linux method? If so, share your info.

From what I've read, don't burn the image as an ISO. Use your normal data burning method, and burn it as LINUXBIO.BIN (make sure it's all capitalized).

Also make sure you're using media that you're TOTALLY certain works with the XBOX. For example, my Thomson drive only works with certain CD-RWs, others it won't read at all.

alright guys I just got it to work. WHat was going wrong for me was nero was making it 1 meg because I guess that's the least it will burn per session. WHat I had to do was go in and not burn it as an image. Just add it to a disk with a couple other things to take up space so nero doesn't change your file size. I popped it in and it flashed instantly.

Thanks for the information. I'm sure it'll help many users to come.

iso1 burn at 2x or 4x. Make sure you name it LINUXBIO.BIN. In all caps. The most important part is making sure your file size of LINUXBIO.BIN is the same size as the bank you're trying to flash. If it's in mode 1 it needs to be 256k which it is in mode 1 by default.
