Hi all !

I had the exact same problem with an Xecuter Pro2 and I solved it. the symptoms were console started 3 times and then red light. Exactly like when you first install a chip which is not flashed.

Firstly, it started to happen when I played instensively a game. I suspected it had something to do with heat.
Then, it didn't happened all the time.
And finally, removing the chip or disabling it with the switches ( Xecuter2 Pro ) fixed the problem , but it didn't really helped me because my C drive was modified, so without the chip I add a nice XBox Green Error Screen.

I found out that below my chip, some pins had touched the mother board and started to remove the green plastic that was protecting the circuits below. And guess what, the pins that were in contact were the pins that connect the Pogo Pin adapter to the Xectuer Pro2. So basically I had a shortcut, and I don't know which circuit was closed by that, but it definitely makes my machine boot with the red light...
I put a nice sticker on the mother board below the Pogo Pin Adapter to protect the mother board from any contact. And I retested with and without the sticker. With the sticker it booted fine, wihout red light.

The green plastic that was protecting the mother board had been removed while I was installing the chip and trying to get the D0... And the heat seems to have make the Pogo Pin Adapter slitghly move, enought at least to make a contact...

If you remove the chip and you still get the red light look carefully at all the circuits that were under your chip/ pogo pin adapter and make sure that you didn't cut any of them.

I hope my comments will help some of you.

I think i might have the   ANSWER .... ok just got back from the Jays game... went to test my xbox, and it worked , just like last time it stoped for the night..

So i thought to my self, when did it do it last and where..  Well 2 weeks ago in my basement.... this time also

MY basement is cold as hell lately... when the system started working was after it was left in my sons room, for a few hours, (its nice and warm in here)... hmmmm

maybe the xbox has a cold temp problem. not just an over-heating problem....

Ok heres an UPDATE to my problem... well no longer a problem...

I hard wired my matrix to my M/B took out the pogos... still didnt work. i noticed that every time it booted it went from green on the matrix chip it self to red, and it auto disabled my mod chip and my system booted  but with out the chip... strange...very very strange...

I took out the chip re-flashed, didnt work, got errors ... put new battery in, and it worked... solderd back into my xbox, and now i am playing matrix for the past 30 mins. non -stop...

so this is the second time my matrix chip has gone corrupt on its bios.. how ? its not in mode 4, strange....  again...   in the time it corrupts it self it seems to temporarily corrupt my TSOP... only untill i get a new bios loaded on my chip at that point my TSOP is back... stranger...

So my conclusion is, I kill them both.. salvage my samsung and 80gig, run like hell.. and get a new box and chip, and dont look back..

***new update***

Ok everything is working, all put back together,  all except 1 last thing...

My dvd rom, when evox loads it says, that the dvdrom is open, if i hit eject, it says ejecting, then i close it  it still says ejecting and the light keeping blinking like its opening...

any suggestions on how to fix..  remember v1.0 M/B with matrix, in mode 2, running lates x2 bios, and latetest evox DASH...

I solved my issue with the DVD rom always saying OPEN, and when u hit eject that all it ever says, and never says no disk or anything else... well Since I solderd my matrix in, thats when it started... I took a pogo -pin and solderd it to the underneeth of the screw hole of the matrix,  so now it connexts to the screw hole on the xbox mother board, and all is well.. hope that helps people out in the future ...

good day all

Have you checked that the HDD is actually spinning up?. Actually listen to the HDD when you power up the box. You should be able to hear the HDD spin-up when you power it up..........or not. Then un-plug the IDE cable from the HDD and power the box up, again listen to the HDD. I have had the EXACT same problem after putting in a new HDD. I managed to narrow the problem down to the HDD not spinning up sometimes, yet if I unplugged the IDE straight away it would spin-up fine which led me to the IDE cable.

Check the HDD spin-up as above before we go any further......
Let us know the results.

Cheers
