If your xbox refuses to boot (3 resets / red/green light problem) it means that your LPC pins are misaliged but your d0 (g-spot) pin is aligned. This is because d0 is connected (and trying to override the original bios) and is 'calling' upon connections on the LPC but is not finding some which makes it reset.

If you have a 1.1 fill the LPC holes with solder. It makes it easier to align the chip

You guys are crazy.. But, yes, I had the same problem   The 3x botting and redgreen.  I don't really know what happened other than I think I messed it up when I put my Matrix back in my box.  I had the XBOX Power plugged in and I think I moved the chip a lil too far.  I looked all over the place but it seems no one has ever covered this prob. so I just bought a new HDD & Mobo and reinstalled it with the power UNPLUGGED and the chip in MODE 1!!

Always unplug your XBOX and wait a minute!!

I had the same problem (on, off, on off, on then flashing green/red)
My problem started when the Matrix would sometimes boot normally other times it would boot as if there was no chip in there.
I took it out realigned it then it failed with the above mentioned error.
The Matrix manual lists this as 1 of 2 things.
1 faulty bios upload (gives you a test bios to use to rule this out)
2: bad connections with the LCP.
I simply cleaned my pins with metho and realigned the chip.
Works perfectly.
I went and installed a 120gb 5400 Samsung at the same time ;-)

Mine did the same thing.  After reading this thead it scared the crap out of me.  I cleaned the pins with alcohol and realigned.  So far so good. (god i hate aligning that thing.  It's unnerving.)

Ok heres a good one for yas..

2 weeks ago, my system went nuts.... It crashed and rebooted 3 times... noraml problem... then it started up and kept rebooting by its self randomly and repeatedly... when it started to repoot it would do it as little as 3 times in a row and as much as 100 times...

So I left it off for a few hours, came back from work, plugged it in, it didnt reboot, so i left it on playing a dvd over night for 12 hours, after that it worked 100%,, well 2 weeks later (now) It did the same thing lastnight.. the video went nuts, and it rebooted a few times, now I get the power on , reboot, reboot, reboot, red blinking light.... and thats all no sound no video... reflashed the bios with 12 different bioses .. no luck there...

Its a Matrix chip in a V1.0 M/B,   I am going to try the D0 direct solder to the top of the matrix, but that wont help, cus with out the chip the xbox does the same thing.... now thats fucked... same problem, lasts for 2 days goes away for 2 or 3 weeks then comes back... i was playing 4 hours before it started doing that lastnight...

but my xbox doesn't even work without a chip meaning it is fucked or the intern bios is damaged. Would it be possible to flash the onboard bios somehow?

I've been reading many threads on this same issue, since I have the same problem on two V1.0 Xbox's trying to use the matrix on it.  I get the classic red/green flash and 3 reboots.  Everything seems to point back to making sure there is a good connection on pins from the matrix, meaning most likely the d0 is correctly aligned.  I'm going to try to use some alchohol to clean my matrix's pins and the LPC points on the motherboard.  I can't see it really being a bad flash on the matrix, considering it happened to me on 2 xbox's I was looking to mod that had never been opened before.  I'll post back if I have any luck when I get home from work.

QUOTE (Social-Zero @ May 28 2003, 02:17 PM)
and do your boxes work without the chip?

No actually they do not.  They continue to do the flashing red/green with the 3 reboots.  They haven't been powered up in a few days tho.  I won't know anything until I see what I can do with mine tonight after work.  I just have to think with what I've read with others having similar problems its just the connectivity with the LPC's.

It's cool that everyone is doing their best to help but It can't be anything that is not clean enough or that isn't connecting as the box doesn't work WITHOUT the chip as well.
We heard the same thing over and over and it works for a lot of people i bet but what about the onboard bios , is there anyway to fix that

Social,
I had the same issue installing the matrix mod in my 3rd xbox.
For some reason, the 3rd one did the exact same thing you have described.
Reading the forum, I thought that is was a misalignment of the LPC's.
Fiddled with it for about a half hour and got fustrated. Took out the mod and booted up and got the same dreaded problem. Now I felt sick and started swearing left right and centre.
Tried re-flashing the tsop and the bios to no avail.

The board is dead I'm afraid.
Time to get a new one.
