QUOTE (FIREitUP @ May 21 2003, 02:23 AM)
its hard to belive that people can have so much trouble with a concept so simple, i installed mine in under 3 minutes....get a damn cheapmod if you can solder and dont pay double for features that are overpriced on the x2 (and you probably wont use that 1mb bios any time soon, or ever) you wanna call the matrix a POS fine, no one gives a shit about your problem if you're gonna whine because you cant get it alligned you quantum physic fucker.  go flame some other chip because matrix has helped many newbs, but maybe not you....so shut up already bruce almighty.

I agree, just because he had trouble with it dont mean its bad, not that i know, never seen or used one, i built a cheap lpcmod. But ive met many people who have even had troubles with the most expensive of chips that claim to be the best thing since sliced bread and easiest to install and blah blah blah, yet they dont go shitting them to hell because they fucked it up themselves. I dare say for every one person that has trouble or screws up somehow, there are most likely 20+ people who have no troubles at all. You cant blame the chip for your own incompetance bruce1271.

EDIT: Damn typos  tongue.gif

its so simple that its a POS......ok......so if you're so fuckin smart get the fuck off this forum you fuckin ass, no one wants to hear you complain.  Go start your own forum and flame good products (though slightly overpriced), this forum is for helping, not flaming, so keep your opinions to yourself and lets all just help each other.

I am not flaming the chipset.  I am flaming the premise that the matrix folks convey that this mod can be installed in 30 seconds.  Look at thier little film they get you to download.
I bought this chip to put it in fast and get on with my life.  I have no desire to spend alot of time messing with a mod that is supposed to be fast to install.

For all those out there, I did get it to work by using electrical tape as a fulcrum/wedge.  I placed the tape between the modchip board and the motherboard.  I used 3 pieces of tape and doubled them back on each other twice(sticky side out).  This caused the matrix to be installed at an angle.  The Chip is angled towards the D0 pin probably at 15 degree angle I would say. Make sure you smash the tape down good so it doesnt give after time.

After I installed it, I smacked my box a few times and rattled it as well.  Seems like it is in there pretty good now.

I can now boot with EvolutionX.

This chip is probably fine, but dont expect ot have your box opened up and closed back up in 10 minutes if you have V1.1
from what I've read, this V has a tougher time with this chip.

For the guy who asked where I went to school - Penn State.

Why post the same thing 4 times, no need for that is there, and you cant go claiming refresh button, look at the time gaps between posts. Whats going on with you? Are you deliberatly out to piss people off?

For those with a 1.1 that did not solder in the lpc  holes, you can try
aligning the D0 point and aligning the lpc points and the pogo
pin but make sure the pogo pins do NOT go into the holes.  I got this to work yesterday afternoon and it took me probably a little less than 30 mins to put it on the 1.1.  I had a solder gun ready to go but I wanted to see if I could get it to work without using it.  Good luck!

1. x2lite has shitty pogos i've used both and i know that matrix's is much much better
2. dont judge a modchip until you use it.
3. i can't speak for the modchip, maybe its you maybe its just defective.
4.  stop fucking posting, loser.
5. if you are doing quantum physics and you have kids, then you have no time for xbox, you have better things to do.
6. get a life.

does anyone have any pics of their chip with the tape under it. I too got a matrix just today and have a v1.1  I messed around for 3 hours same thing...would get the green light to flash for a half second then red in test mode. By reading this thread looks like i have a few choices 1) fill in the lpc with solder and solder the alternate d0 point 2) tape method or 3) get a new chip lol. thanks for any help in advance
