Did it come with filled holes? Or did you fill them?

You would probably come no where close to that stature bud.  Use correct grammar and punctuation first, then maybe we can think a little more highly of you.

On note of this thread though:

IMO any solderless solution for the XBOX is a POS (piece of shit), thats just my opinion of course.

It seems that no matter how loud we scream, people still buy the pogo's and end up frustrated, on the verge of suicide.  blink.gif

All kidding aside, you should look at replacing it with an X3 when they come out... In the meantime I would live with it.

Yeah why buy a chip that has pogo pins if you're an electrical engineer? Many people have installed them that don't even have peach fuzz on their face.

It doesn't take PHD.

I installed many Matrix mods, and none of them were hard at all. ...

Also I would not buy into the X3, only becuase Team X is chopping you off at the knees, First they hype the X2 lite and Pro. everyone runs and buys it, not what, they want to release and X3 right away, so we have to spend more money.. thats nonsense.

The matrix is an awsome chip for someone who doesnt want to solder or doesnt want their motherboard to be moded physicaly. I have installed like I mentioned above many (over 50) and not one problem. when it comes to v1.1 and v1.2 boards you need to fill in the LPC holes thats all you need to remember...

Hey All,

Good to see some responses.  First off, I was an Engineering major and not english, so my grammer is not a concern to me nor should it be to you.  Especially at 1am when I wrote that.

I have v 1.1  I have not scraped, filled or anything.  I followed the directions on the matrix web-site and did not see where I needed to scrape, fill, pluck, kiss or anything to the board.  You can call me stupid, I dont care. What I did was follow the given directions from the manfacturer.

What I get on 1,1 (dips) is a flash of green followed by red. Which is correct.
When I go 1 off 2 on, I get the 3 power on/off. I did get it to boot into Evox 1 time by holding down the damn thing in such a mangled way there that there is no way the screw could hold it. Also, I had to use my PC's dvd-rom drive to get the Evox dashboard to boot.

So, I need a new brand of cd-rw I guess.

What exactly causes the 3 boot thing? D0 or LPC?

Thanks

Well,

It appears I got this to work on v1.1 without having to solder anything or scrape anything.
I had to use electrical tape underneath the PCB of the matrix to angle it towards the LPC.  I needed 3 peices ~ 5" in length and doubled them up and put them under the Matrix.  Tightened down the screw a bit and it seems to be working-I need to buy a longer screw though. It boots into EvolutionX using my PC dvd-rom.  Now I have to find a cd-rw that works.

Anyone have any brands they know works with the samsung drive?

As I posted in another topic, I think the easiest method of installing a Matrix in a v1.1 is by doing the following:

1.  Remove the motherboard.
2.  Solder a wire to the alternate d0 site.
3.  Put the motherboard back in.
4.  Put a piece of electrical tape on top of the original d0 site so there is NO contact between the d0 pogo pin and the d0 point on the motherboard.
5.  Put the matrix into the LPC holes without filling them with solder.
6.  Solder the d0 wire coming from the alternate d0 site to the top of the d0 pogo pin on the Matrix.
7.  Tighten the screw and never worry about the matrix coming out of alignment or screwing up the d0 site by scratching it up.

Perhaps I will solder the D0 to the alternate site if this does not hold. Where is that alternate D0 point anyway? Is it a large contact?

Now what do I do to make "back-ups" of games?

I have a menu with EvolutionX booted.

I am at work now, but I believe the options are:

1)Harddrive
2)Network
3)reboot
4)???

I can set-up the Class C subnet to connect into my hub that has my Linux and Windows PC on it.

How do I fire up the FTP server on my Xbox?  I though Evolution has that installed?

Also, is there any way I can boot from the harddrive without the boot disk?

I guess I will look at some tutorials.

LOL, neither of you guys could be decent electronic engineers if you had to BUY a damn chip, should have built your own like me, hell you dont even need to be an engineer to build it, my girlfriends 12year old brother could build one.
