Is Matrix Modchip Good?
« on: May 16, 2003, 11:02:00 AM »

The Matrix works, but not as well as some people would like.  It caters to those unwilling to solder and as a result, suffers from intermittent poor connection with the LPC bus points.

As for your inquiry on the chameleon, details of its functionality, both by itself and as a Matrix add-on, have already been posted in these forums, not to mention the official website.  Look before you ask.

dry.gif  there is a lot of matrix users that have not had a problem and prefer the chip to their counterparts.... i am not one of them laugh.gif  so if you can solder i would suggest an x2..... i've got a matrix and once i had replaced the screw that it came with, i have dropped the box and it has not come loose. look at the xbox-scene homepage for comparisons of features beerchug.gif

I've had no probs with my Matrix at all. I've only had it move out of alignment once.
Believe it or not, I took my Xbox with the Matrix installed all the way from this little hick town (aka Flagstaff Arizona) to Medford Oregon and back with out having the chip move. My Xbox just sat on the top of my duffel bag while the bag was sitting in the back of my Jeep the whole trip.

Only real thing I don’t like is winLPC. The program is a PITA and a POS, wmilk is much better for programming tool for the Matrix.

My matrix has worked perfectly from day 1.
I think there is a few tricks to do to ensure
a troulbe free install. 1. get a longer screw,
#6 x 1/2" sheetmetal screw does wonders.
2. use the star lock washer that comes with
it. 3. gently remove the varnish from the D0
with a xacto knife.
