OK.. All you do is install a pin header in the xbox..
Now if you can get a female pin header block with 12 pins or more solder that to the matrix...Or Use a 12-18 pin cable and plug, similar to ide cable, or even cut down an ide cable...
Then work out which wire goes to which pin on the matrix..
Solder to the top of the pogo pins or just remove the pins...mount the chip where ever..I just looped the cable up and over then cable tied it to the chip, and it basically sits in the same spot but a little higher...Make sure it doesn't short to the DVD rom case....
Yes you need to put a ground on the ground screw hole of the matrix, and I suggest you use the alternate D0 point on the bottom of the mobo..

QUOTE (JohnnyVegas @ May 11 2003, 12:50 AM)
I wired all the connections to the pogo pins and all I get it flashing red.

Where exactly do I solder the wires to the Matrix? To the pogo pins themselves.. or can I solder them to the top of the chip?

I have to ground it to the screw hole right?

Any help and advice would be very very very very good.

Thanks, this chip is just pain in the arse all around.

j

why do you need to solder wires?

Because the Matrix pogo pins are crap and give connection problems, if not straight away after a while...Try moving the box
from place to place especially in a car and you'll know why...

where can I get an official guide to soldering the matrix... I'm going to buy one and trust the pogo's (i have faith), but if that doesnt work my best friend (only 14 years old) says he can solder... would this be a tough job for him to do, and where can I get a guide for this?!?!

I just soldered the chip by heating the pogo up till they "popped" out. It owrked perfectly.

Thanks for the help! This is why I like the Xecutors, a lot nicer in my opinion.

Also, I'm putting 2 external switches in place of the 2 on the chip. I'm assuming I just attach the switches to the legs of the switch on the chip. Do I leave the the Matrix controlls to off or should I just clip the legs to be sure.
