That's just too much.  That first post by Reality_check is so riddled with inaccuracies I simply do not have enough time to point them all out.  We're on a Team Xecutor payroll?  neXgen promised by Christmas?  Please...

I pay $38 for the X2Lite from System-Mods.  Granted, they're out of stock right now, but I consider EB2K's stock to be on a whole other level of unavailable.

I fully agree with Smokey. I really don't know why everybody in here is whining and complaining. They're giving us advanced notice, and although they may be trying to re-spark sales, in a business perspective, it's actually really smart what they're doing.
(By the way, Smokey and I seem to agree on a lot of issues, kinda cool wink.gif)

Many people have had bad experiences with EasyBuy2000 because of their warehouses being raided. Much of that was not under their control. Under circumstances such as that, I'll cut them a bit of slack. If you owned EasyBuy2000 and had your warehouse being inspected by the government, you would have long delays on shipping too.

However this doesn't mean I fully agree with EasyBuy2000. I do wish they notified customers that their warehouses were being raided and that they wouldn't be able to ship items for at least a couple of months. By not doing that, they showed a flaw in business practices.

Also remember that your aggression should not be held against Team XODUS but EasyBuy2000.

All-in-all I'm glad that Team XODUS is releasing their chip for $25 until May 8th. I know I ordered a few, and I know others will too. Although $39 isn't bad, $25 sure as heck sounds like a much sweeter deal.

Last note to leave you with, even at $39 (supposedly including shipping) the Chameleon's pricing is still on par with the X2:Lite. If you compare the features, you'll find both chips are very similar. As far as pricing is concerned, this is a big sigh of relief for Team Xectuer.

I've said all along that I don't know what the fuck kind of new features people are seeing on this chip.  To me that was my favorite part of the recent announcement "features never even dreamt of by our competitors."

Software switching - useless, easier to flips the DIPS on my Pro.  Blue LED - come on now, are you being serious pushing this as a sales point?

The one thing it had was price and now that that's evaporated the only interesting thing left  is the Stealth feature.  If it actually does what so many are hoping it will be as though Team Xodus has quite frankly taken a shit on the entire scene.  There isn't any compelling reason to play backups on Live considering the enormous downsides, free alternatives like Xbconnect, and the complete ease of playing legitimate copies with a simple switch.  Even if it doesn't allow this they have implied the capability all along and it's total garbage.

Then we finally get to the last point which is that Easybuy2000 is without question the worst company for shipping, fulfillment, and satisfaction in the history of the known world.  To all potential Chameleon purchasers I suggest you do the following:

-Take two $20 bills (new price) and roll them into a ball.  Pack it as tightly as you can.
-Use lighter fluid or any other flammable substance to thoroughly wet the ball.
-Light the money on fire.
-Throw the flaming mass into the toilet and flush it
-Wait for your chip

After following the steps above there's the potential for a magical elf wearing baby shoes to appear at your door with a red sequined bag (Chameleon Inside) and a bright smile on his face.  This is a far more pleasant and likely scenario than sending Easybuy2000 $25 (BUT HUURY SUPLIESS R GOIN' FASST) and waiting to get raped.  At least with the elf you can say hey maybe he was just busy making cookies for Keebler and he couldn't get work off to deliver my chip.  With Easybuy2000 the excuses suck - Maybe they got raided again, maybe it's still processing, maybe I'm a total moron for trusting this company.

I admit i have a matrix, its looks nice collecting dust and all. but my system that i own well both have a Xpro and Lite and the lite i think is better because i can solder bigger switchs... where the pro i have to use a tooth pic to flip switchs where i find it insane(and i know i can make my own bigger switchs to avoid that issue.) but all im saying is that if i can switch bios from evox and not from my crack nail. then by all means its a better chip. unless you guys have a smaller hands then i see why many of you would not care. the feature you have to admit are more and can be done with more then the Xpro. not just about a blue stupid light... shit i already did that for my pro. i flip the switch and the mod is on and so is my blue light.

QUOTE (Flagg3 @ May 4 2003, 02:43 PM)
Ummm, there's one small problem with all of the complaints.

Team Xodus is still selling the chip for $25.

If you want one, order one.  If you want 10, order 10.  I could understand all of the bad mouthing if they had gone back on their promise, but they haven't.

Personally I do feel that it loses much of it's edge over the X2 with the price increase, but so what?  I pre-ordered 2 for $25 apiece so that's what I'm paying.

And as for all of the claims of "Anti-competitive Marketing".  Please.  Both teams are guilty of hype and mis-leading claims.

How about the fact that the X2 was officially announced the same week the Matrix started shipping?  Or the fact that the X-ecuter team Blasted the Matrix as being overpriced and that Pogo's were a joke?  Or the original Estimate that the X2-lite would sell for $35?  Or of course the infamous quote from October 20th:

"The (X-ecuter 2) will be supplied with adapter1 (wire) at a much cheaper cost than any other mod. Adapters 2 and 3 (Socket and Pogo-pin) will be supplied separately for an extra cost - with the most expensive choice still being cheaper than any other mod available!"

And the comparison charts were a joke from BOTH teams.  Let's not forget that the X-ecuter Team isn't exactly innocent in that one either.

Look the bottom line is hype is just hype.  The X-ecuter Team announced the X2 right around the time that the Matrix started shipping and Team Xodus announced the Chameleon right around the X2 started shipping.  So what?

Let's get real about this.  Even at $39 shipped the Chameleon is still a competitive alternative to the X2-pro.  My only complaint about the price increase is that it means that now we probably won't see a price drop on the X2 and the X3 probably won't be rushed out as quickly as it might have been if the Chameleon had stayed at $25.

Flagg

The complaints aren't so much about the price increase as much as they are about they way they handled it.  For months they've been urging people to wait for the Chameleon, using poor etiquette and somewhat lowly business tactics.  As BenJ said, they've been stringing people along.  Now they up the price (as said, which would normally not be such a problem), but they cited as the reason: they had not considered WHOLESALE prices.  Exactly when have they sold the Matrix at retail?  Of course they sold all their Matrix chips at wholesale, so this is poor excuse.  It would be akin them jacking the price up because they hadn't considered overhead.

how many solder points and wires on this chip? ...as a Stand-Alone

it seems the 007/raincoat method is easiest with 2 points that flashes TOSP ... if you need LIVE get 18/19 switch ....    What advantages are there Really? ... seems like I would have to solder alot of points ...and are the points hard to solder?

I know for the 2 bridge points I'm using Conductive Micro Pen ...so no soldering ... with 007/raincoat Memory card!  ...

I am Open to be shown the WAY ... if the Chameleon is a easier and Better solution?

I placed order for 2 of them (55 dollars including shipping)  ... but I'm considering cancelling my order ... what do you guys think?

I also placed a pre-order for 2 of them on Thursday, 05/01/03.  They were supposed to start shipping the next day (05/02/03) but now EB2K's site says 05/09/03.  I'll let you know when they ship and when I receive them.  I don't plan on installing them, though...I'm going to wait to see how the X3 measures up before moving away from my X2 Pro.

Yeah too funny.
They sure as hell aren't very good business men, I think nasis does a better job than they do.  jester.gif
They knew how much it'd cost to produce, this isn't exactly a complex business.
So a price hike now shows the marketing uses of it.

Hey ben you ever use VxWorks?

No.... all that Wind River stuff is usually too pricy for my clients  ohmy.gif  but it sure looks cool everytime I see them at the Embedded Systems Conferences.

Most of our tools are vendor supplied.
