Help Aligning V1.1
« on: April 14, 2003, 11:23:00 PM »

I am having the same problem as you.  I started installing my matrix modchip today and I haven't had any luck.  When I put it in mode 1 the light always stays on red and never turns green.  When I put the modchip in mode 2 the light stays constant green, but none of the backups I have work.  I also have a version 1.1 xbox.  I've only used the Cromwell 1.8 Linux Bios so far.  I am going to try the evox bios tomorrow to see if that will work.  Let me know if you figure it out.

(As posted on the ModChip Chat)

Take something sharp and pointy (like a knife) and put the point of it into d0, then just scrape and scrape until d0 is nice and shiny. I put the knife in and just spun it around while applying pressure. Just don't put too much pressure, or slip and cut the board. I had to do this for both 1.0 and 1.1 xboxes to get my matrix chips to work.

I just wanna get this straight....are you saying we should fill in the d0 hole with solder? What exactly would that do? just curious on what effect it will have before I fill it.  Thanks for the replies!

QUOTE (VvBroncovV @ Apr 17 2003, 12:03 AM)
.... (I didnt get a green light at all just blinking red). Then stuck in mode 2 and it loaded one of my backups.

So you didn't even get the brief flash of green whilst in mode 1, just red... and you got it to work???  I thought this indicated an incorrect alignment of the matrix with respect to d0.

Where is  the d0 hole located? Is it on the top of the matrix in the middle of the alignment holes?
