What if you want to change banks when the xbox isn't turned on?
Are you expected to turn it on, access the bank selector and then have it reboot?
That's impractical.
So an external switch still will be useful.

impractical? booting, selecting, and rebooting will take all of 20 seconds. sure a switch is faster, but i still see this as a big step forward.

That's 20 seconds I don't have to do right now.
If you're a person who runs debug bioses and then normal ones, you end up switching a lot.
That would end up wasting a lot of my time.
So that step forward should have the ability to be controlled via a switch or it's not a full step forward in my opinion.

My xbox is a few feet from my bed. I play quite often in my bed, and i think that it would take more than 20 sec to get my lazy ass off the bed and flip some switches.

In such a situation I don't think you do much development anyways.
That's mainly what I use the xbox for.
So I don't care about things that make it better for a person who still can get by fine with a 256KB chip.

The x2 pro can be software controlled or dip switch.  So if the new xodus chip doesn't, it still doesn't have much on the x2 pro then. tongue.gif

But hey, I can understand being stoaked about software controlled, but what do you use the banks for?
Colored xbox logos on boot? wink.gif

Remote on/off, mod on/of, bios switching is going to be a reality in many ways soon I think.  As soon as Greengiant and them started with the IR mod I knew that would somehow be connected to a chip (bios)sooner or later.  From reading what Uber said about the next big bios from Xecuter, It sounds like the bios is gonna handle all of these things.  He says "hardware modification" in his statements and even though that can mean a plethora of things I would bet thats what it is.  If so I am going to be a happy son of a bitch.  Maybe accessed in Nexgen?  With these people I think the sky is the limit....

Yeah the features you want, the x2 pro offers.
However sinec you don't already have one, it wouldn't hurt to pickup the chameleon for its price.

it doesnt mean that software control is the only was to change banks,

You still have the dips on the chip (as seen on the pics)
Software controll seems to overide the dip settings and boots another mode.

So on next power up or reboot the dips will take control...

in the video you see in the Menu Chameleon Mode 1 (and in the sub menu there are 4 banks)
I guess that in other modes of the dips, the menu will have other options?

Mage this is how its done

In mode 4 u can do bank selection and development of bios by simply booting with different banks by using a combination of front panel buttons

Couldnt be more practical than that

also by this information above it looks like you will have to solder the chip in to get all the software controlable features. it says you wont get them if u just add them on to the matrix, which i suspect most will do.
