don't kno about the mac, dont have one to try...

but have you tried "pinching" the chip and the programmer together? that's one of the most common problems among matrix chips

or maybe you are using a extension cable? you have to have the programmer plugged DIRECTLY to the printer port. well, at least that is what i have read  smile.gif

nope it is directly connected to the computer port and i have tried pinching, just make sure i am right do you mean holding the connectors together tightly whilst using winlpc?

how does using a different computer make it all work?? and is there anything i can change on my computer to get it owkring on this? or is it just xp?

are there any other means of flashing apart from this bastard programmer grr.gif  you think that easybuy will send me a replacement?

is there anyway of making sure the metal connecters definately make contact with whateva they need to in the chip, i am willing to experiment as i have 15 games ready for burning. i need some suggestions. will the chio ever flash green inside the box even if the bios isnt done. cos i was gonna get it installed properly(never seemed to want to stay green) and then connect via ftp to my pc and flash update the bios thing there. will this work, well it hasnt for me so far. is there anything i can clip onto etc do to the programmer add foil god i would attatch it to my cat if it would work

I had this problem and so have many others. You can't put it in your box and flash via ftp as your box has to already be modded to ftp to it. You have to flash it with the programmer for the first time. Push down or pull up on the chip while it is connected to the programmer and the programmer is connected to the pc. Apply pressure so it feels like the matrix is going to come off of those pins... but not enough pressure to break it. Then fire up your winlpc while holding it like this.... It should detect it. If it doesn't try it on a pentium 4 machine.
