Definitely a re-alignment problem and your XBOX is just fine if it works without the chip... so... no damage done.

same thing happened to me, re-align try to screw down tight once u get it in the right spot. Id use a different screw, or bolt it. Sometimes the matrix will act gai, if it doesnt use your bios, and just uses m$ bios, shake the entire xbox once, one swift shake, should fix the problem

An Xbox with a Matixchip is Agoraphobic. Take them for a trip out of the house and they are likely freeze up, you need to lightly slap them a few times bring them back to normal.

Congratulations,

you just found out why the matrix sucks

- don't screw it to tight
- don't let it hang to loose
- green is usually good allignment, but sometimes bad
- red is usually bad allgnment, but sometimes good

QUOTE (Colonel32 @ Feb 24 2003, 06:05 PM)
If you're going to be moving your box around a lot try the #6 sheetmetal screw that knowledgeiv(sp?)  speaks of at his site... do a search... and screw it in TIGHT and snug.... i haven't had a problem since i replaced that crappy screw

Yep, replacing the screw solves this problem 99% of the time.

Get a #6 x 1/2" Sheet Metal Screw (w/o a tapered head)

That about a M3 13mm for the rest of the World on the Metric system.
