Doubt it...

Couldn't they check the validity of the BIOS in RAM instead of reading the flash?

You think Team Xodus could think up something like that? =X

Still no selling date  dry.gif

Looks interesting. In theory, it MIGHT be possible to stealth the BIOS from detection (I have a few workable ideas),  but it most likely WILL NOT involve any hardware.

I think a better tack on the XBL issue is to hijack the initial packets and patch them.

sad.gif  Sob Sob Sniffle....

Xodus Chamelion: I can't believe a product could just obliterate the X2 Pro like this...AND RIGHT AFTER I PREORDER X2 Pro!!! I would probably never have used the extra features such as software D0 controlling and stuff, but it's nice knowing it is there.   grr.gif  And at 25 bucks, I hope it ruins every Xbox it touches....sorry. sad.gif

The only guarantee, hardware-wise, is to disable the mod chip, power off, power on.

I think packet filtering will be enough anyway.

I'm actually a bit surprised nobody has patched the Live! Executables to solve the issue anyway.

There are a number of attacks that could allow the use of a modified machine during an XBL session; that M$ might change tactics in the future shouldn't come into play, because we are talking here and now.

I'm just concerned about the big announcement with NO SALE DATE. I realize the EB2k raid probably killed any momentum on production and sales, but Team Xodus didn't even announce specs until now, 6 days after this 1MB add on was supposed to SHIP (Jan 25th). The timing is suspect, coming on the eve of Pros being shipped out.

If they were on track for a Jan 25th release, these specs could have been revealed well before the raid took place.

Basically, I'm willing to cut them some slack, but I'll be a bit wary until hardware is actually released, or we at least see some photos of the device. (remember, we saw X2 prototypes LONG before actual release)

...and when will it be released?

We've been hearing about the add-on for over a month, and all we have is a feature list; not even an image of the prototype or a hint of when it will ship.

P.S. In a minute, I will MERGE this one with the other Chameleon topic.

Any other threads that get started will be either locked or deleted, unless there is something unique and deserving of a new thread.

There is no need to start a new thread every minute about this.

The Chameleon sounds neat and all, I can understand how it makes the matrix fanboys' hearts go atwitter, but I'm not going to tolerate twenty fanboy threads.

Who ever said it will be out on the 25th of Jan?

I dont remember any official statements onany page saying 25th of Jan...
On the other hand, I recall Xecuter announcing 25th of Jan for the X2pro

Are we confusing the teams? please confirm

No, I'm not confusing the two....

I specifically remembering a statement from Team Xodus about the 25th, which was also the date of the scheduled release of the Pro. I remember thinking... "gee, that's the same date as the X2 Pro launch" when I saw it.

I'll have to do a little research, because it wasn't on their main page (the one prior to the latest).

Even funnier that the same fanboys ranted and raved that nobody would ever need more than 256kb.

If all this is as great as it sounds I think it's obvious who's behind it.  With the current EasyBuy 2000 situation I think it would be a good time for a certain team to jump ship and go into business for themselves.
