Anyone Have Problems With Matrix And V1.1
« on: January 14, 2003, 03:55:00 PM »

Im about to install a Matrix in a v1.1. I usually do v1.0 xbox with no problem lining them up but i hear its alittle harder with v1.1 cuz of the no solder in the holes.  I will be using the new Bios x2_4974_MultiVer_256k.

I wanna know what to look out for or if its gonna be a big mess or not such a big problem at all?

Isn't the LPC-holes on the v1.1 Xbox unsoldered? How do one get contact between the Matrix and the LPC if that is the case?

the 1.1 I had DID have solder in the LPC (I am in the US if that matters)

anyway my opinion it is NOT easier than the 1.0  but it isn't hard either.

but be weary though like you are.

go read the tutorials (you prob did) on what to do IF you do have problems.

such as how to fill the holes.. or how to fill the holes with just drops of solder.. that makes a pad.. but not "soldered" to the board.. just kinda sitting in there. and chip on top of them.. etc etc etc

hi dude

on a v1.1 mode 1 does help,
if it flashes green then your alignment is correct, but your GSPOT may not be,

you still can get only RED lights if your alignment is incorrect

ive taken out the mod several times, and it seems to work every time i put it back...
i did not solder the LPC's

Just wanted to throw in my $0.02 - I had the Matrix in my v1.1 for two weeks, getting it to work was really easy, but after about a week I had to re-align it (red and green flashing, LPC points not having contact), worked fine for another week, then the same thing again.

It worked perfectly with the box open and by applying a little force on top of the LPC pins, but after a few tries the plastic on the box broke and the screw didn't hold the Matrix in place properly anymore.

Sold my Matrix to a friend who has a 1.0, I'm now waiting for my X2 Lite. If you can solder, I'd go with the X2 or at least solder the LPC holes if they are empty (mine are).
