Matrix 1mb Adapter $25 ?
« on: January 12, 2003, 07:45:00 PM »

the 1 mg adapter also doules as a chip itself. You can get the actual matrx for 45 at spotted horse, and it can flash the tsop. I think thats worth 45. I hope spotted horse offers the adapter for a cheaper price as well.

you can flash the "TSOP" as you call it* with ANY lpc device and the neurosys device (cost less than $3) or the very simple xecuter 12c508 pic chip (3 wires and cost $0.50) - (*its not called TSOP, this is only what people with zero elctrical knowledge call it - i.e. Matrix Generation Newbies - its a Flash ROM that happens to be using a TSOP package - but i'm not going to get picky)

Still pretty sweet that a modchip maker is actually offering an upgrade, first time ever.

We don't have any details on the Addon, except that it is also supposed to be a stand-alone chip, too. I'm not sure what the additional features are, yet, though.

At $25 for a 1MB chip, that would be pretty decent. Is that price just as an addon, or does it include whatever wiring hookups required to install it standalone too? Will the programmer be included?

It would be nice if Team Xodus could clear this up for us all, to avoid any misinformation.

No, I'm talking about team xodusincluding the programmer for the 1 meg extension/seperate mod. This way you can use it as an individule mod, with a backup programmer, if you have a bad flash.

what ?

LOL

Upgrades are offerd all the time for different mods

different features / different installs / add ons

you only have to look at what xecuter did with the LITE - gave a FREE design to make your own cable

what Matrix should be doing is offeering the designs for this upgrade FREE as their customers have already paid enough - why should they pay more for a product that should have had a full 1MB flash in the first place. Its common knowledge that the price difference between 256k and 1MB is only a $1 if you buy wholesale.

If they release for free (so it'll cost most people $3) then they would regain my respect

until then I think its a bit of a cheek asking $25 for something that they havent even released details of yet (even though its been announced for over a month)

I believe its mute anyway - only useful for current matrix owners

A cool thing for xecuter to do would be to get all matrix owners to send them their matrix chip and they give a $30 rebate against any xecuter mod - that'd be funny smile.gif

I don't get it

What they are saying is $59 for the 256k mod + $25 extra to upgrade it to 1MB = $84

and you support these guys ?

Okay lets compare:

Matrix = $59
1 MB Mod = $25
Total = $84 for a matrix mod (WITH POGO PINS & PROGRAMMER) and a 1 MBIT EEPROM

X2:Pro = ??? (X2:Lite sells for ~$49 WITHOUT PROGRAMMER... so lets add an additional ten dollars and you get the same $59... maybe more?).
Pogo Pins = $22-$25 (they said it'd be really expensive)
Total = ~$84

SO in the end... it all ends up being about the same...

It all depends on what type of fan boy you are... obviously you're not a Matrix fan boy.
(oh yah.. I don't own either one... i got myself an aladdin universal wink.gif (aka CheapMod))
