It is NOT safe for live. You need to have the chip entirely disabled if you want to sign on without getting banned. Absolutly make some external switches, I did and I couldn't be happier with them, they make it extreamly easy to switch back and forth between the evox dash, and the ms dash for live, and I don't have to open my box to flash the bios, I can just switch to matrix mode 4 from the switches. If you want a tutorial look here. I found that the best place to install them is in the back, in between the av output, and the network/live port. Good luck.

I've heard that they have, because in order to run entirely new bios the box would have to restart, I havn't ever run in 3, but I think that it is like running the ms dash from the evox dash, anyway, I wouldn't take the chance, the switches are easy to make, and they are infanitly useful.

yeah.. booting in mode 3 disables the bios.. otherwise if it didn't.. you'd still be able to play unsigned code (burned games).. there is no way for it to be detected

I think a lot of people are under the mistaken impression that mode 3 in the Matrix simply loads the original BIOS into RAM and still leaves the mod enabled, this is why people aren't sure about it.  And of course it's not true.

I dunno, but I do know that my switches work great, especially if I want to flash the bios. Why take the chance? If you know it will work though, hey, it's your live account on the line.
