If you are using Win XP,

There is a little proggie called "get io" or something.

I had the same prob as you,installed yhis program, squeezed everithing thight and away it went.

Shouldnt have to go through all that to flash a chip IMHO.

And yes I know what you would have to go through for the Cheapmod, but still, for $50 it should work like a charm..

just keep moving/pinching the chip on the connection...

either it needs to be totally flat ... not tilted..

or it needs to be like tilted a little..

make sure NO cords are laying on the programmer from like your keyboard or anything.

and also make sure your programmer is plugged in straight also

some of them are a bitch.. try pinching the connection while you tell it to program.  (if you can reach it and do that at same time.,)
