N00b Question, Matrix Mode 3

I have my Xbox all together so I can't look in and see the LED on the Matrix.

My question is:
I am checking out NexGen and it has the function to reboot. I selected reboot and the Xbox rebooted, but instead of showing my typical Xbox logo and "Matrix Inside" below, it showed the Xbox logo and the normal MS logo underneath and the MS dash loaded.

Does that mean it is in mode 3? I know that doing a hard reset will boot the original onboard BIOS, but is it the same as doing an in app reset?

It works the same as the hard reset. Just tried it myself now, loaded up nexgen, hit reboot in the settings menu, it loaded up the MS dash and the red light on the matrix is on.
