I would definitly install Evox onto your HD for it is far easier to navagate and you must also edit your .ini file and have that also on your HD.  Are you looking to play Movies or Games.  I have had problems with DVD+rw so try it on a DVD+R

What games are you playing - backups???
What DVD can't you boot a movie or game ????

What type of dvd rom do you have, It may have trouble with +R, +RW media..
Sounds like your media or the iso image created or the way you burn them is the problem possibly..
I THINK
leppper   means to edit your ini file from STATIC IP   -  NO
     to                                                            STATIC IP  - YES
Before you burn a boot disc...So you can FTP to xbox...
