I Found Tha Matrix Solution! :)
« Reply #15 on: January 07, 2003, 02:35:00 AM »

Ok, will throw in two cents after putting Matrix on v1.1.

First, to understand poster, go to http://www.google.com/intl/xx-hacker/

This is the hacker web page...may need to the hacker translater at google also...hey, they rock at Google...

1) Don't believe anybody when they say it will just take 10 seconds to install your Matrix.  Don't believe the Exodus marketing hype "Watch video of my wife with her bad manicure and just see for yourself how simple this mod is."  It is bullcrap.  It will take quit awhile to get this thing lined up due to new v1.1 board issues.  Good news...no soldering required...and you can return your Xbox basically back to normal...oh yeah...except having to screw up the stickers on the bottom to get to the screws...nice job MS.

2) v1.1 box solder spots on the connector block are suspect.  Two of them (I am guessing on purpose when they build this thing now) were not even with the green board.  I filled those in with solder myself.  I suck at soldering by the way.  Just have a very pointy solder iron and some very thin solder and stick it in the hole and melt it in.

3) Make other block pins that are high, lower with solder iron, try to basically smooth them all out and make them level.

4) Get the D0 hole right!!!  This is the breaker and my biggest problem.  You can look close and see where the D0 pogo pin made impressions on the MB due to my pressing thinking I was onto something three times...so be careful not to push too hard, but you have to with this mod somewhat...

5)  The whole washer thing  and method is suspect.  But, I pushed pretty hard and really strained my eyes to ensure I had the D0 lined up, hole etc...and held down real good with one hand.  Then turned on the power.

6) Hey, flashing green for a moment, then flashing red.  This is normal for v1.1.  Don't freak.

7) While holding down working Matrix, perform some amazing feat that your 3 year old daughter is supposed to perform easily in 10 seconds, and screw the son of a gun in place tighthly.  This is tricky, but I found it is the best way...

8) Flashed mine with D.6 before all of this.

9) Turn on Xbox and see it work exactly as it did before the mod!?!?  Scratch head for awhile wondering why it looks identical to stock Xbox boot.  Well, because it is supposed to do that (gee tutorials on Xbox-scene, you guys really make that clear, NOT, if you say the "Complete guide to Matrix, actually make it complete, not hacked up instructions or hacker language.)

I don't have a colormod, and after 90 minutes of trying to get it lined up right, I don't feel like taking it back out, searching crappy IRC for some colormod bin in D.6 format that will take 3 weeks in the queue to get (if the morons on the channel don't ban you for saying Hi) then it has a CRC error when you WinRAR it....oh great...this hobby it so fun...

10) Now, try to make a good boot for Evox install, or Slayer's etc....good luck to you on that one, that's an entire other post on how to make that work trying to follow the "tutorials."  I use that term loosely.

Good luck to all......

Well I am now having problems with my matrix. Everytime I pickup the xbox the matrix gets mis-aligned. I did stick a longer screw in it, but that did not do the trick. I have just put a slightly wider screw and longer screw to the original - hopefully that does the trick.

Wow... this really surprises me.  I move my xbox around all the time and I've never had a problem with the Matrix.  I'm interested in seeing how my luck holds out over a greater period of time.   I've only had my Matrix for a very short time so I guess this observation is more or less pointless.

Just had to realign the bloody thing again, got a good run from it this time, moved it everywhere in the car etc... But if happens again(NO DOUBT IT WILL) the solder is coming out and the pin header plugs to... biggrin.gif

Here's one for ya (guess I'm just an unco-ordinated freak/n00b to some), align the matrix, screw it down so it is just moveable.  Switch on the power and it blinks green for about a sec and then goes straight to red.  Don't move matrix, just power off and back on and it does the same thing again. move matrix around and all it gets is red unless you power off the Xbox and power it back on, then (and only if it has been re-aligned) you again get the green flash for about a second.

This has got to be the funniest post I have seen in a LONG while.

Now, 3 possibilities:

1- You're just trying to act cool, which is ridiculous
2- You're trying to be funny, in which case it really works
3- You're really talking/typing like that, in which case you need a serious lesson concerning the english language. I'm guessing you never went/will go to college, right? smile.gif

You, sir, are an insult to all black people who ever lived.

Nobody cares if you're black/white/red/orange/blue. You're not impressing anyone with ghetto talk. Just takes even more from your credibility.

If you had half a brain, you'd know the fucking WASHER is there to hold the Matrix at level. If it makes things harder for you, then maybe you should stop smoking so much crack.
