ENGLISH TRANSLATION (it took awhile!)

Ok, everyone listen up.  I'll try and make this as easy as possible. Here we go smile.gif

Step 1. Use the Golden T10 Screw from the DVD drive... Use this T10 screw for the motherboard, and use the motherboard T10 screw for screwing back the DVD drive or the HDD; after you are done modding the console of course.

Step 2. Ok, Recall back to the scotch tape and washer that came with your Matrix modchip... Now throw it out, it is worthless.  I'm saying this because it makes it more difficult to successfully screw the T10 back into the motherboard with the Matrix installed. If you like the idea of the washer/scotch tape, don't throw it away (note: USE THE SCOTCH TAPE AND WASHER!!! veilside)

Step 3. Now for the alignment of the Matrix. Everybody has problems with this.
Reasons being:
1. You are uncoordinated
2 Your too gentle and the main pogo pin is not touching the motherboard because of this.
Set your chip on mode 1and get the green blinking light.  Next, switch modes to mode 2. Now, turn off the xbox and keep it off for now. Use your index finger to push and hold down the main pogo pin. ( Just push it down to the motherboard until it won't go down any farther). Do not be a beast and push it straight through the motherboard.  If this happens please don't complain to me about your poor broken XBOX.

OK, while holding the  pogo pin down you are going to turn on your XBOX. (You won't get shocked, I have done this already). First, Plug in the video display cable from your XBOX to your TV so you can see the bootup with your colormodded bios or just your regular bios.

Now install Evolution X Dashboard and visit their website.

If anyone has any problems with this post or with the installation, please email me.

Its a quite bad idea to not use the Washer, It makes it much easier to destroy your systemboard.

And please everyone, post what version of the box you got. Since iths much easier to align the chip on 1.0 than on 1.1.

But it seems like you have 1.0, since you have the green flashing. Then you are the clusmy one that had to go trough all this troubles to get it to work  wink.gif

I must totally agree with F-Forward. the washer is there to keep the mod pretty much level (the pogo pins keep it 'up' on the one side) and it is also there to stop the bare tracks of the underside of the mod from shorting on the MB.
I have seen a MB go up in smoke right in front of my very eyes due to a stupid prick not using the washer.

I had issues installing my Matrix.  The solution was rather simple however.

I did the following:

  • I filled the LPC holes on my v1.1 board with solder
  • I used a longer screw with a thicker thread

I considered not using the washer but then it's too easy for the back of the Matrix board to make contact with the system board.

Also, the Matrix is not designed to be pushed down hard on the board.  Has anybody noticed if you do the d0 pogo actually can contact with the trace next to it, although this is usually masked off?

It is generally a good idea to use the hardware the matrix dealers give you. I have a version 1.0 and i got it aligned in about 20 secsif you screw it down first just so it is movable it is then alot easier to align the chip. also like nakor saidDO NOT OVERTIGHTEN that will either screw the pins or possible mess up the traces.

Well I am now having problems with my matrix. Everytime I pickup the xbox the matrix gets mis-aligned. I did stick a longer screw in it, but that did not do the trick. I have just put a slightly wider screw and longer screw to the original - hopefully that does the trick.

Wow... this really surprises me.  I move my xbox around all the time and I've never had a problem with the Matrix.  I'm interested in seeing how my luck holds out over a greater period of time.   I've only had my Matrix for a very short time so I guess this observation is more or less pointless.
