Anyway, for issues in WinXP, try and look up "giveio.sys" and "WinXP" in google. There may be a fix for it.

I've written software to use giveio.sys on our Win2k platforms at work, to control hardware through the LPT port. It's pretty straightforward, and any problem with XP should be easy enough to solve (possibly needs the Paraport service disabled - though on our Dells it caused the LPT to 'go away' entirely).

ok, i already had the giveio.sys installed, i used LOADDRV to install it then rebooted.
Ran the Device Manager, selected the menu option to show hidden devices, i looked for
"giveio" under non-plug&play drivers, right click and select properties and set it to automatic as required for nt-based windows (xp). I have a dell, xp pro with service pack and still nothing, partitioning gets annoying, and seems like i have no other alternative.

Got my chip with no screw, no disc, and no battery (don't know if it comes with one anyway, but I'm sure it comes with the former mentioned items). Still cool, tho, since I'm soldering it anyway, I can get the software online, and I got 9v batteries falling out of a desk somewhere around here.
So, in other words, k00l 3733+ $#33+ M@N! =-P

it only comes with programmer, chip and washer, thats it. the screw is already on the mobo, the battery im sure anyone can handle and it would be illegal for them to distribute  a "disc" if u are talking about u know the bios and dash.
