Ive had my matrix chip for months and no problems.

It took 3 attempts to align it.

YEP, although I used an original screw and it has been working fine for 3 months now.

Guess if you do a proper job, you don't have problems. wink.gif

In any case the longer screw wil give you an extra "advantage".

wink.gif . However, the lpc points are a cakewalk to solder...they're huge! and with a 15 watt pen, even the d-0 point shouldn't give you much trouble. I suggest opening up the old box (get used to it!  wink.gif ) and checking out the points- if they look OK, x2 lite or pro. Look iffy? Matrix for you.  cool.gif

Well my friend wanted to get into this stuff a while back and he hasnt never soldered before. I have only done a few jobs on PSX's before and thats it. He ask if I would put one in for him and I told him I would but ain't responsable if I mess it up which he was ok with. I put in a excutor and the d0 point is kind of small(doing it from the bottom not the top). I did it with no problems but the d0 point still scares me.

I am just afraid to attempt it on a brand new one. All these jobs(3-4 total) have been for someone else. Knowing my luck as soon as I attempt it for myself I will screw up. But the LPC points are like a walk in the park.

Do you all think its a good deal(my 24x10x40 TDK used and a realtek NIC for a Matrix kit)?

Any other opinions on this mod?

installed 4 matrix's on NEWBIES total newbies..

and with ONE chip (mine) has flashed 8 TSOP's and counting.. everytime being taken IN AND OUT of mine multiple times not to mention the installation on all 8 one time each makes that 3 times I screw it in and out.. 24 total.. not ONE as unaligned...

My experience..
some have problems and are picky when programming via programmer.
basically you have to try to make it straight on the programmer.. then make sure you push the programmer ALL the way in.
then try the winlpc program easybuy has...
if it gives you an error... just keep pinching the connection of the matrix to the programmer.. it is touchy but you will see some need to be a little tilted to one side on the (header connection if that is what it is called.)  Anyway you will understand..

now about the alignment.
People that strip there screw hole etc etc .. man what the hell are they doing to it.
like I said I have taken this ONE chip in and out soooo many times and installed 4 others.. NEVER stripping or even comming close to it.   I am telling you no need for a larger screw.. this is what I think people are doing wrong.. maybe..

When in test mode.. they align it to green light.. usually this is done by just aligning the holes etc etc.. and pressing down with your finger..then turning on.. if green good.. KEEP HOLDING IT DOWN and grap a screw driver and tighten...
HOWEVER.. when they do this.. they probably didn't strip it on the first try..
they probably tried to turn it on again (like you should) to see if it moved while screwing down.. guess what it probably did.
This CAN and DOES happen.  So what they do is.. they realign (same way) and tighten down.. but this time not so much cuz it will start to move...  THIS IS WHEN THEY PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND boom it becomes unaligned when they move the box... or even putting back the dvd drive etc etc..

While screwing down when green light flashes.. put a finger in front of the chip so it does not move in the direction of tightening of screw..while doing this and pressing down.. that finger will stop the chip from spinning off alignement.

about stripping.. I just don't know what the hell they are doing.. look if you hear cracking .. TOO FAR!  lol   but really I think it is because they screw it in crooked .. it is kinda easy to do.  You think it is in the MB hole but it isn't anyway..,.

The matrix kicks ass.
in my opinion it is better than executer .. lite.. pro  whatever ..its cheaper and does the exact same stuff.  except for the multi bios crap.. some people need that but most do not.
and it IS SOLDERLESS in every sense, unless you flash tsop and THAT is even VERY easy!  I never soldered before this stuff.
