What Kinda Chip Is This?
« on: December 10, 2002, 03:38:00 AM »

looks like homebrew.

Wouldn't install it though, you would need to solder it, verify it has been flashed with a correct bios, You wouldn't be able to reflash it (I think) and the quality really doesn't look very good.

Sorry man, I hope you didn't pay 50$ for this non-matrix, definate solder chip.

Now, that REALLY sucks.

It's VERY obvious that they are calling this thing a "Matrix" to try and dupe people like you into buying it.

Please tell us who the suppliers are so that we can make damn sure that nobody else is duped by them.

** Update **

Right I have spoken with the suppliers again...

I was supposed to recive instructions via email by 14:00 GMT (4 hours ago)... no joy... the said they have sent them and they are still in their mail servers out box... - BOLLEX!  it shouldn't take four hours to send a F*ckin' email...

The only reason I went with them was because they were in the UK and could supply of the Matrix chip the next day and I thought it would be easier being in england - if it didn't turn up I could go there and demmand some cash back noworries.   Well just how wrong have i been proven?

Apperently they are gonna update their site 2nite with details on this chip so that it can be bought on line.    Currently there is no mention of it on there...

URL : www.playstationrepair.co.uk

They answer the phone "Intertrade"  I gather that is the company name... here is a scan of the invoice...

scan of invoice

As u can see, even the invoice say's Matrix!!!!

Jeez man, talking about a rip off. But I believe, in my country anyway (accross the channel), you can always get a 7 day money back kind of thing. Maybe check this first.

problem is he can not verify if it's flashed. If it is not, how the hell is he going to flash it with evox, if he does'nt have a modchip to install evox in the first place.

To Xant: Maybe we should give this guy one of the 23 give aways?

You would think they would use a socket for that chip.

I buy cheapmods down here in australia for $25 AUS dollars. ~$12 US dollars.

As it's been stated this has the exact same features as the matrix but needs soldering.

I agree. I think this dude deserves one of the 23 xodus chips. That was very VERY deceptive of that company.

Anyway good luck dude.
