Try cleaning the contact area on the board as well as the pogo pins with some rubbing alcohol.

I agree, it's most likely alignment

green = maybe aligned, maybe not
red = maybe aligned, probably not

some people that have not been able to get it aligned (green) end up finding a spot that works good (red)

good luck wink.gif

I found that a good place to start when aligning the chip is by placing the cut out edge of the chip against the ide port and slowly moving away from it very little until the light turns green.  This worked pretty good for me.

Occasionally I get a green dot of what look likes the loading screen about to load but has halted and the sound repeating - I'm well f*cked it seems.

BTW, it only started after I connected a crossover cable from my PC to the Xbox - not booted since  sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif

Also, once I got an error 16 and also occasionally I see a sort of distorted XBox logo - is the Box finished or is there an answer?

That's not what caused it. The matrix can't mess up your xbox! If your problem isn't alignment then its because you didn't plug something in right or at all. Code 16 is the dvd drive if I'm not mistaken. So you forgot to plug in the power to the dvd drive or forgot to plug in the ide....And also check you hdd connections and all the others for that matter.

Checked every single cable, 99.9999% sure the Matrix is installed correctly but still no proper boot sequence - furthest I've seen is about 2 seconds into the loading sequence of the Xbox then it just freezes. Is it absolutely 100% certain that the Xbox cannot be killed by the Matrix? If so, then why can it not boot without the modchip installed?  sad.gif
