Never installed Evo dashboard as my Xbox drive didn't accept my CDRWs - and I didn't mess up my Xbox, either the Crossover Cable somehow shorted out a part of my board or my Matrix has killed the machine!

john316 i got the error 16 and all that shit too, i thought my dash was lost, but i fixed mine, i found out that it wasn't reading my evoX dashboard (error 16 means that dashboard files are missing) because my BIOS was fucked up, and it wasn't going to M$ dashboard because i transferred that file to my pc, so all i did was re-flash it with a different bios and then re installed the chip and there was my dashboard and all the games on the HD and every app, everything was still there .

I'm using matrix, v1.0, 2.6 bios, and 1.8.458 EvOx dash,

hope this helps man,

M.M.

it took me 3 weeks to figure out my problem, your shit isn't fried, and nor a trace is ripped cuz you see/hear video/audio

Problem is I never installed the Evo Dashboard - only other thing I can possibly think of is that my Xbox HD is faulty so it can't read the MS Dashboard properly but I have never come across a HD problem where it partially reads a file but not all of it due to a fault.

I still hold some hope my Xbox can be recovered - I even managed once to get the full audio of the Xbox bootup sequenece last night. Still no video nor any loading of the disc in the drive - I have just not seen this kind of problem anywhere so its really frustrating!

This happened to me when i first got the chip last week after i adjusted it. The error was because of the M$ bios trying to boot EvoX, like you said. The matrix gets un-aligned and wont boot correctly. I thought that the bios was getting mine messed up also, because every time i reprogrammed it it worked again, but it would happen shortly after. I figured out that the bios did not get fucked up, it was just that every time i re-installed the chip, it would align it differently and therefore would boot again. If this is your problem, and you continue to have it, then just unscrew the alignment screw a tiny bit and then screw it back in. This will adjust the chip enough to make it boot again. I had to do this a few times and i was just about to put in a #6 1/2" machine screw but then it started staying aligned and has been working fine ever since. It's almost as if i scared my chip into working, strange huh? The matrix does not screw up bios flashes! Yay jester.gif
