Matrix And New Hard Drive?

QUOTE (gbrandon @ Dec 2 2002, 07:59 PM)
I ordered a matrix mod chip but I have a few questions.

Do I have to use evolution x (with ybios) If im planning on adding a new hard drive as well as playing live?
Or can I just use the mxm .09 bios for this?

also, I thought I read somewhere (but cant find it now) that live checks the hard drive for a encrypted file before it will let you play on live, so if you have a aftermarket drive you cant play? Is this right or is it possible to have both a addon drive as well as the live service both at once?

Its easier (IMHO) to use Evox to swap HDD...

The encrypted key you're reffering too is actually the "password" used to lock your HDD. To use live, your replacement HDD must be locked, otherwise, you will get a "Error 5" during boot up, meaning that your drive is unlocked and can't be used with MS stock bios.

There's a tutorial in the tutorials section on how to lock a replacement HDD.

is there any functionality difference between locked and non-locked drives?
