When M$ is concerned, anything is possible; can't predict the future, so I recommend either a Matrix or an X-2, but you will have to wait for the X-2 to come out.

Programming is very easy, since a programmer is included.  After installation, it is possible to flash the matrix using evox dashboard.

You can run other apps by creating a CD or installing them to the hard drive.  You will need to install the evox dash if you want to run off the hard drive.

The matrix can flash the onboard TSOP, but you don't need to do this.  Just unscrew the matrix and everything can be back to normal after you undo any changes to the files on the hard drive.

Well with the Matrix you can also set it to mode 3 if original bios is a need.  For Xbox Live I simply set it to mode 3 and I can put in a disc then eject it and put in the Live disc (when you eject it resets the bios to original).  This way I can use a mod and play on live which is what most people are doing.
