Would this work with a v1.1 box?

Depends on what kind of bios you flashed the TSOP with...

The only thing I can recommend though: DON'T FLASH TSOP!

To much of a risk and if you have the mod why bother?

How does it depend on the TSOP BIOS?  I thought once the Xbox was booted, whatever BIOS it was booted with is cached into RAM.  If the BIOS is cached into RAM, what happens when the Matrix chip is removed after booting?  More so, what if the onboard TSOP BIOS was empty or invalid?  Assuming the booted BIOS is cached into RAM and you can sucessfully remove the Matrix post-boot, what is preventing you from flashing the TSOP at this point?

What you said is correct. I kinda misread your initial question. You should be able to do this. But  I believe you can flash your TSOP with the matrix still in place. Just point in your ini to the right chip to flash. Don't exactly how to do this but I recall seeing it somewhere on the boards here...
