Please Help - Never Seen A Green Light At All ?
« on: November 20, 2002, 06:56:00 AM »

I put the chip on the board and attached the screw slightly and turned the box on. Then I twisted the chip until it turned green and fastened the screw, done.

Not to be critical... but if you can't install a Matrix, do you really think you can solder a chip in?

you do now that you have to connect the power plug of the boxes before you get the green light. huh.gif

What mode are you in?  The testing mode?  Switch to mode 2 or 3 and see if you can get a green light if you haven't yet.

I have installed PS1 and PS2 chips in the past with no problems soldering,

And yes i have the power on,

can only get red light or non at all have being trying for hours and never seen a green light at all (except for when you first power up it's green for a fraction of a second then back to red),

Can't see BOTH my chips being faulty as they programed ok.

Am getting f*cking sick now !!!!!

Just cant undertand it ? sad.gif

Look at it from straight above. roughly align it, and put in the screw (not to thight). Power up xbox and try to align the matrix with the power on. (don't touch any live parts!!)

Press it down and realign if necessary.

My hands where quite shaky and still i did it.

PS try and feel the G spot. If its in there and pressed down, it's hard to move it from left to right.

Try cleaning all the contacts, pogos, and g-spot with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol.  There could be some resin or something getting in the way of the Matrix making good contact.

Do the version 1.1's have solder at the connection points?  If so, you may need to build up some points with solder.

Good Luck!

Thanks for info,

No they dont seem to have any solder just a very very small gold circle,

do you think putting a little solder on the g spot might help this ?

I dont understand why im having so much trouble as everyone esle seems to get it fine (even on 1.1's).

i have 2 v1.1's i cant chip anyone of them,

anyway thanks for help will keep trying.... sad.gif

Some people were getting excited because some new boxes didn't have presoldered lpc points, so they wouldn't have to remove the solder in order to install a header connector.  Could be that this missing solder causes problems for matrix owners.
