Oh btw when I use winLPC I can read the bios and save it to a bin file (even though it's still blank cause I never got it to flash).  I don't understand why I can read from it but not erase/program the chip.  I have a bad feeling about this already....

I forgot to include details about my comp:

Windows XP Pro
Athlon XP 2000
512 megs ram
GeForce 4 Ti4400

Could any of the settings on the LPT port have any kind of effect on flashing?

Same response I gave to a different thread:

I have flashed 3 different Matrix chips with 3 different programmers.

Flawless flash on 1, problems on the other 2.

I had to physically pinch together the chip and programmer while it was flashing. The header pins and socket of the chip and programmer are not making good physical connection. Pinching them together maintained the connection long enough for the chip to flash (which seems like an eternity when you are pinching to things together between your thumb and fingers).

Try the pinch.

I can barely move my finger to type this message, but hey...good advice.  It did work.  You would think that for what they charge for this damn thing you wouldnt have to put yourself through physical stress just to get it to flash.  Hope I don't have to put that much strain on my hands putting the chip inside the xbox...

Thanks.

I posted the same problem 3 days prior to yours....

make sure you push the chip into the programmer and hold while you try to flash it.

I had the exact same error..and now it works.
