Xodus/matrix, Now You See It...

I have heard of something similar to this before, someone had a solder chip, and the heat caused the chip to come off.It might be the same with yours.

Sounds like your Matrix is going out of alignment when the xbox gets hot.

I dont know any other way of making sure it never looses contact besides
making sure the screw is down tight or use the bolt method.

Dont solder a non-solder mod chip... your just asking for more trouble.

I have seen this happen recently as well with a friends xbox.
His xbox gets hot when playing DVD's.
When its done playing the xbox quickly cools.
I can here the plastic creek and pop as the temp decreases.
(Original hard drive and yes the fan is working)

This expanding and cooling of the componants
caused the Matrix to lose its alignment.

However, this xbox would not boot at all until the chip was realigned.

Well, just woke up this morning, turned it on again & got the pretty red xbox logo coming up. So, its loading from my matrix again... must have had to cool down again...

I also wondered if it may have been the vibration of the disc drive causing the matrix to become un-aligned. But, if that were the case, how would it magically re-align itseft to the proper position (3 seperate times) after just sitting there for an hour or so with the power off?!

I wonder if the overheating is solely due to prolonged use of the progressive scan mode? I will try watching a few DVDs without using the progressive scan mode & see if it has the same problems...
