When I'll pick it up I'll make sure to check the model# on the back of the box. The 1.1 are still pretty rare in North America right ?

Besides, isn't there a group which is going to come with a 1.1 compatible bios ?

Um.. there is a group working on v1.1 Bios, but right now it is 512kb in size and can not be reduced from what people have gathered. Someone might try to make it work, but no word on that yet since the 512kb version has not been released. Yes, v1.1 is rare in North America still, just look at other posts, they say what manf. date your's should be before to be safe.

Here's how you can definantly tell what version you have:

Goto the "settings" option in the XBOX menu and select "Sytem Info". You will see lots of legal text.
At the end of the txt you will see something like
K: 1.00.xxxx.01
D: 1.00.xxxx.01
If you don't see this you still have one of the first xbox versions (USA only) , so it's a v1.0
If the xxxx = 4034 or 4036 or 4627 you have a v1.0
If the xxxx = 4817 you have a v1.1
