Oh, another thing: the switches appear to be covered in some sort of transparent green plastic, which I'm going to have to remove somehow in order to change the switches. Not seen that mentioned anywhere either, and perhaps should be in tutorials also.

QUOTE (Cornholio @ Nov 7 2002, 11:12 AM)
First off, apologies if this has been mentioned, but I didn't see it in the manual, tutorials, or when I searched the forums.

Matrix turned up this morning, only had time to have a quick look at it before leaving for work, but it seems to me that the programmer can be plugged into the chip so that:

a] chip sits on top of programmer
b] chip sticks out the back of programmer

Which is correct? I'm assuming b] is correct. Either way I think this is something that should definately be in the tutorials / on the Xodus site. After waiting over a month for this thing the last thing I want to do is kill it wink.gif

                                    1. sticks out the back (Nothing else is possible with the battery in place)
2. switches: just remove the plastic.

and you have to apply quite some force to get the battery in, unless you open up the female pole a bit more (what I did)

It's what I assumed, but, as always, make sure you know what you're doing before you attempt it wink.gif This is the only stuff (so far) that I haven't seen in any tutorial.

I guess had I tried to plug the thing in the wrong way, I would have found out that you can't do that. But I don't have it with me, and I wanted to make sure I had everything clear in my mind so I can do this as soon as I get home.

As for the switches/plastic, yea, I knew I'd have to remove that stuff, even said so in the first post. The point I was making is that this isn't mentioned anywhere, and I'm damn sure some newbie would go ahead and install the chip, get it all aligned perfectly, and then realise that he needed to do this... and promptly knock the thing out of alignment while trying.

People complain about newbies coming on here and asking stupid questions - I say the best way to counter that is to make sure little details like this are mentioned in the tutorials.
