"Conclusion: you'd be better off soldering a mod on to your X-Box with a tire iron than you would be trying to align and install a matrix chip."

Either that or get some media that actually works with your xbox....    rolleyes.gif

I order a Matrix from EasyBUY2000 and got it in a week. Yes, just 1 week.

BTW, when you are booting CDRWS (from my experiences), sometimes they won't boot right away. I have tried things like powering off the Xbox, and then turning it on. Sometimes it takes maybe 3 boots, but eventually, it boots. Oh, that is my X-ecutor I modded Xbox.

Just seems like you have bad luck.

I've tried every solution I could think of, even replacing my parellel cable and giving the programmer another new battery.

                                    NO NO NO NO NO!

No parellel cables!

You must attach the programmer directly to the back of your computer.

The developers of Matrix said not to use them because it can damage your chip or flash a bad flash.  So try it without the cable.

I've done it both ways, tried with 2 different computers directly connected many times and then tried parallel.

Did you use a parrellel cable the first time you flashed it?  If you did, you may have damaged the chip, thus no longer working.

Find the right media that works with your Xbox!!! I had the same probs, I ended up getting Verbatim Datalife Plus 650MB CDRW to work with my Evox boot CD... only after about 8-10 tries  (turn it on, it fails, turn it off, REPEAT) Eventually it worked.

Wow, I ordered my first Matrix last Sunday (Oct 27th) and got it in the mail yesterday (Nov 5th). That was priority. Anyway.. ripped open the envelope, slapped a new 9v battery in it, connected the chip to programmer, programmer to PC. Took my bios I used for my PC-Bioxx, opened FanCBox, hacked it to 256k, ran WinPLC and programmed very first time, no probs at all. Then put the chip in the XBox, first time flashing red, already screwed down with washer, gave it a slight tap to the left, flashing green, moved it to Mode 4, closed box, booted Evox from CD-RW, everything works perfect. My first real "Under 5 minute" mod install. X-Ecuter was 30 mins minimum, first one was 4 hours. This is the easiest chip I have ever seen to install, just not a fan of no solder, but its not my box anyway so I don't care. It works, I'm happy, customer is happy.. the end.

Hey get this, I just fixed the problem. Someone in IRC pm'd me and told me not to use 256k bios. They said use 1 meg bios and leg winlpc chop it on its own, and guess what? IT WORKED. After 3 days of trying to align this thing and putting bios on it etc it finally worked. The ironic thing is I did the exact opposite of what the instructions said, anyone else use 1mb bios?

Something to try that doesn't require dropping more money or cracking your case for the 10,000th time.

But first I would like to say.

1   I have had piddle luck with ISO's
2   Nero can burn in Hell

This will atleast rule out if your Iso is crap or your burning it incorrectly.

1  FTP a game from your X-Box to Your PC  (I prefer FlashFXP)
2  Obtain  RecordNowMax  by Stomp Burning software
(You can usually find a 30 day eval that will work fine)
3  Burn all the contents to DVD-R (I prefer Panasonic purple, but all have
worked for me so far, even a couple uncoated generics)

**IMPORTANT NOTE***
In the options menu make sure you set to 128 characters for DVD burning.  There are only two options to choose from so it should jump out at you.  Don't use the burn wizard cuz you won't be able to change those options.

4  Try booting to your new burned disk.

This has worked for me like a charm.  I make back-ups of my games and have had no troubles.   I gave up on Xiso and other iso's after the third wasted disk.

On a Side Note:

Some games will take forever to boot.  As long as you get no errors give it time it will prob come up after 5-8 minutes.
I am 99% sure why some games take so fricken long to boot. I have just been refraining from posting because I know when MS figures it out  all of our games will start taking 20 minutes to load and that will suck a lama's cracker barrel

Hopes this helps one in need,

Antjel
