Looks like a Hard Drive Problem.
Did you make a backup of the Xbox C partition to a folder on your PC?
Did you recently replace your original xbox hd with a new one?

XBOX error codes explained by Superfro (v0.1)
Tutorial written by : Superfro

Description:
When you attempt to boot, a 'you need service' message comes up, and has a LED style number on thetop left hand corner.
Here is what they mean.

Disclaimer:
This information is a believed to be correct, should be as close as it gets;
Also:
Bootloader stuff you should never see, since if it fails kernel doesn't boot. (thus you see no message)

Code Who sets it - Description

0 - any - No error (duh)
1 - bootldr - Unknown exactly, something to do with checking the motherboard
2 - bootldr - Eeprom check failed
3 - bootldr - ??/not used
4 - bootldr - Ram check failed
5 - kernel - HDD not locked (retail bioses require the hd to be locked)
6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD
7 - kernel - HDD timeout
8 - kernel - No HDD found
9 - kernel - HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size {debug}, certain size minimum is required for debug)
10 - kernel - DVD timeout
11 - kernel - No DVD Founnd
12 - kernel - DVD parameters (PIO/DMA)
13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running)
and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
14 - dashboard - Error loading dashboard (dashboard generic error)
15 - - ??/not used
16 - dashboard - Other files to do with dashboard / dashboard settings (specific dashboard error)
17 - - ??/not used
18 - - ??/not used
19 - - ??/not used
20 - kernel - The dashboard was attempted to load and failed; It was a cold boot,
and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed,
but it (for some reason) needed to be noted that the dvd passed
the challenge/response authentication
21 - anywhere - This error says that the machine was booted to display a error,
basically someone told the machine to reboot (or launch a xbe) with this flag,
and the error code just means its been rebooted by the flag

In closing:

21 was the highest number I could find, I dont think anynthing is past that. And for the unknown ones, I couldn't find anyreference to them at all,
I don't believe they are used.

Greets to everyone (who is contributing) in the homebrew scene.

Did you check the jumpers?

Is the HDD set to cable Select?

How is the DVD set?

Did you try a replacement IDE cable?

Thanks for the tip on the dvdrom...
I was wondering if there was a way to manually get one to release.
Xbox live is what I was getting at... no harm there.

Good to know that your Hard drive is good. (booting)
Good call using a PCDVDROM to troubleshoot with.

There has been some debate on the jumper setting for the hard drive.
In all the stock xbox hard drives that I have the jumpers are set to cable select.
However all the tutorials state, or dont state anything,
setting the jumper to master when installing a new drive,
this maybe a mistake for a number a reasons I dont know.
The 3 other xbox's that I have with replaced retail hard drives are all set to master
and have been running with no problems for quite some time now.
(Maxtor 120gig 5400)

Regardless the jumper on a stock xbox drive should be set to cable select.
The jumper on retail hard drives should also be set to
cable select since that is the way the xbox was engineered work.

Good luck with the new ide cable and I hope that your dvd-rom doesnt have a problem.

Once again Opjose clarity of thought is highly appreciated.

I dont know how many times I have read about folks having problems
with their system after playing back games from the E partition of the xbox hard drive.
Its happend to me and many others.
Strange that a currupted drive can cause sooo many bizarre problems
Note that the bios error message was pointing in the right direction tho...

I highly recommend buying a replacement HD asap.
I highly recommend using the F partiton only.
Put the original in a safe place.

If your going to keep the original
Only use the E partiton for small apps if you have too...
no gigbyte files!

Good to hear your Xbox is operational again.
Dont make the same mistake twice.

use another drive for playing games but to prevent your original drive from going bad just copy the files with half of your total bandwith.i tried it several times and all games i copied that way work perfect.
