Matrix Installed - Red/green & Beeping!
« Reply #2 on: October 27, 2002, 11:58:00 PM »

I'm in the same boat, but possibly worse.  I flashed (Evox 2.5) and installed the Matrix yesterday (I had originally wanted a OpenXbox but Lik Sang took my money) and it worked fine using Mode 3.  Then today I'm playing a game and it locks up.  I hit the reset button and I get the red/green error.  So, I took out the Maxtrix to reflash and test and now the Xbox is having the same issue.  Judging from the posts it sounds like my original bios got messed up.  Unfortunately, even with the Matrix in Mode 2 the Xbox won't boot.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

the matrix just isn't tight enough and/or aligned PERFECTLY.  when i did my friend's box it was working fine until it was shaken around when he took it home.  it was doing the same thing you guys are experiencing.  the chip blinks green even if it's not aligned correctly many people have been seeing.  we got creative and bolted the bitch onto the mobo to prevent it from moving.

xbox-scene posted the tutorial i made on doing this recently.  it's in their tutorial section under modchip/tsop titled "Bolt the Matrix/Xodus on motherboard if your original screw is broken."  his box has been running perfectly ever since.

Just be sure to use a blow drier on the seal sticker...

I should add that my problem was the on/off/on thing... kept happening even with the matrix out. My assumption is that a trace got scraped or something but after a weekend of debugging with a meter and a magnifying glass, I found no signs of a problem.

I've had this same error since first installing my Xodus. Since then I've re-flashed it and re-installed it a few times, same result each time. I'm going to buy a longer screw for it today and try again.

Thanks for the advice guys smile.gif
