A longer screw will do the trick just fine.

be very, very careful doing that, i see you cracking the motherboard if you get too fat of a screw.

One option would be to put a TINY bit of epoxy on a cue-tip stick (not head) and carefully eh, ream the sides of the hole.

Let it dry.

Now the original screw should grab again.

You must make sure that you only use a TINY amount, just enough wet the strip threads a small bit.

More and the screw will no longer fit the hole.

If I do get a longer screw, and it wont screw all the way down to keep the matrix down tight. Can i put a washer...perhaps 2 small washers together ontop of the matrix where the screw head will screw down? This would allow it to screw it all the way down I think. jester.gif

That is exactly what I did. Two small washers on top of the chip. Just make sure they dont hang over the ground tab around the screw hole.

The epoxy idea is a good one.  I've used it myself on other projects.  Keep in mind that some epoxys will melt plastic.

They also sell stuff specifically for what you want to do.

jester.gif Now my chip is screwed down nice and tight and it works! They should ship a bigger screw with the chip.

Stripped it too and used a fatter screw. Worked like a charm. :-)

I got my matrix working, kind of a pain for me to align up though. I also managed to strip out my threads again so I had to use a 3/4" screw and it poked through the bottom of the xbox but that gave me an idea. Why couldn't you just use a little bit longer screw and put a nut on the end of the screw on the outside of the xbox then put some electrical tape over that? This would be a hell of alot easier than worrying about the pussy assed threads!
