Just to clarify, you just kept trying and eventually it worked? Nothing done differently?

                                    Yea, sometimes it programmed for 3 seconds and failed, then 10 seconds, then 5 seconds, then after a few tries it took about 1- 1 1/2 to completly flash. If you're getting that same message, be patient and keep trying. It took us about 15-20 tries to flash it and it finally worked.

Didn't Xodus say they were going to release the GPL flash software a few days after the chip release? It's been more then a few days.

biggrin.gif I'm a newbie at this whole Flashing thing.  I just got the chip and was wondering if you're using a DB25 Female to DB25 Male cable to connect the programmer to your computer.  Thanks for answering my question.

One more thing, if you are using the parallel port connection, which mode does it need to be in ECP or bi-directional?

i was able to flash mine by plugging it straight to the LPT port.

I just received my Xodus, and just got done installing it (trying to find EvoX dashboard ISO atm). Anyway, I tried to flash the son of a bitch in windows, and it just wouldn't go. Same as you, random stop errors. I assume it has something to do with Windows XP's (I'm guessing that's what you used too) port drivers, and the way it's handled (delayed sometimes). So I boot into linux, compile lmilk and flash. Worked perfect. So the lesson I suppose is that Windows is shit, and when possible you hould try flashing from DOS (true 6.2 DOS), unless of course is truely works in Windows.

biggrin.gif I was able to get the Matrix chip flashed using Windows 2000 Pro and Milk.  The Parallel Port must be set at EPP, ECP didn't work.  It worked after a couple of tries.

Same here.. wouldn't flash all the way...
Random stops durring the flash..  So it seemed either data was not sending correctly or connection is failing...

I went with connection failing .. especially reading the forums...

Seems the matrix does not connect too well to the port.
It seems you need to find a "sweet spot"
Hold it with your fingers... move it a little ... keep trying.. took me about 10 times to get the spot... and oh yeah it takes like 2 min to flash.. damn takes a long time...

I would think this is ONLY if you get random stopping points while you are flashing.   If it tries to flash it is most likely your connection.. if it does not even get to erase the chip then try faulty chip or your port is not set correctly for what you are trying to do.

I get the dreaded "device not supported" error, and i dont think its the connection because i tried holding it a differenet way and applying pressure for an hour and no change.  Its got to be xp and drivers.

well now i tried it on several computers at school with xp and with win 98 and still got "device not supported" and i put win 98 on my home pc and still same thing.  and i tried all parallel port settings epp, ecp, epp+ecp, compatible, extended, everything. tried changing irq and port numbers. enabled accepting irq in win xp.  installed giveio. had special win xp dll driver. new battery. tried holding it 100x different ways.  just wont work. what the heck is wrong with this.
