guys, what part of KEEP TRYING dont u understand? notice how when u hold it, it'll flash for longer, or shorter if u move... keep it steady man, if it writes on ONE pc, u can flash it on that ONE pc... like I said I tried over 75 times easy... I suggest a laptop if u got one.. if not any other working printer port, remember.. if it WRITES, it'll WORK

are you guys actually getting an error from the wmilk program, because I flash with no problem, but when I put the chip in and try to boot with the flashed bios, I just get power-up/power-down twice and then red/green blinking.....

I'm sufffering from same error message
Flash at address FFC00000 reports device ID man=00 dev=00.

I guess wmilk can't talk with SST49LF020  at all which means
programmer or flash chip board is dead. That's what I figure out after
spending 2 days on many computer and OS. It's not os, MB, computer
depending problem.

I don't remember how did I start to try fleshing but I remember I
took off and re insert flash board on programmer while programmer
is attached to computer.

This could cause fry your chip and programmer mentioned in
xboxhacker.

I started by putting the chip on the programmer then inserting the battery. After that I slid it on to my computer's parallel port and that's the first thing it came up with. I sent in a RMA request so hopefully I'll get it exchanged.

Mine was shipped last monday and
received thursday 10/10/2002..
May be whole batch is defected ?

Mine sent and received the same as yours.  No problems with mine.
I put battery into programer, then attached chip to programmer, then hooked it to computer with the computer off, then booted up, went to a dos prompt and flashed.

ok what i have noticed is that all the people who say "just keep trying it" are of the problem that it erases the chip and starts programming and randomly stops.  this is due to connection because there is no error checking and if the connection isnt perfect an error will stop the whole process.

i dont think "just keep trying" applies to the "device not supported" error because i have this error, and have tried many many different pc/settings you name it and no change. always same message.  there is a different solution for this, and nobody know what it is because the people who get it working dont actually solve the problem, they just eventually find a pc that works.  

this is driving me crazy, i got my chip 5 days ago and have not been able to install it and i bought it because it claimed to be the easiest to install, which it clearly is not.

You very well might have a dead chip. If you get no response at all , Id start the long process of returning it to eb2k

smile.gif  I finally got it to work.

I got the exact same error messages as everyone who posted on this thread

"Device driver not suported". I was using a printer cable.


Then I tried it without the printer cable. I just plugged it in directly to the printer port on my pc and it worked perfectly.

I hope this helps someone out because I was to return it.

                                    Sorry, but tried that too. I've even check the connectivity with a mulitmeter and nothing. I'm not a newbie with electronics and know sometimes things might work if you just tweak a connection a bit, but that not the case here. I think I'm just going to return that chip to eb2k. Just bad luck  dry.gif
